Second Naza build not as locked in as the first

Hello all,

Having completely destroyed my first 650 quad in a crash a while ago, I've built another with a brand new Naza, GPS, receiver and motors. It flies fine but I have noticed that the Naza/Gps seems to take a lot longer to settle down and lock position.

According to the VU LEDs, it is aquiring satellites ok before take off but once in the air, it makes off quite quickly to the right. I have to hold some counter stick to hold a hover; this is the case in Att and GPS flight modes. Infact, the drift sometimes gets worse if I enter GPS mode. However, once it's been airborne for a couple of minutes, it seems to settle down. All the same though, it still doesn't feel as 'locked in' as the first build.

The full spec is:
Unmannedtech q650 frame
4x Turnigy plush 18A ESCs
Naza FCU + GPS
4x Emax GT 2216/12 running 10*45 props
3S 4000 Lipos
Hitec Aurora + Hitec Optima 9 channel RX
Fatshark Immersion RC 500 Mw VTX + Dominator goggles
Immersion RC EZOSD

I have checked the following:

1. IMU calibration is well within lower limits (.01-.03 etc)
2. Tx calibration is all good
3. GPS and compass are all calibrated and GPS position correctly entered in the assistant set up
4. C of G is pretty much in the centre both lat and long and vertically
5. Props are well balanced and vibration is not excessive
6. All gains are set around 130, there is no oscillation when levelling or in vertical movement
7. Electrical installation is almost identical to the first build (which flew better)

My first build always drifted around a bit at the start of a flight but this one positively shoots off in one direction after take off. The only thing different about this build is the motors - the new ones are Emax GT2216/12 and the old build had terrible super cheap motors! All of the new motors seem to work ok.

Like I said, after 2-3 minutes of flying it seems to settle down but even so, it's not able to hover over a spot as accurately as the first. I'm running out of ideas and I really hope someone here can see something I may be missing! Could it be possible that my new Naza and/or GPS is not as good as the first?

Best wishes to all,

Luke

I agree as I have a newer DJI F450 and it doesn't lock in like others I fly with that have older kits.
But my other flipping problem is being worked out by replacing the DJI motors first, after that I probably won't even care about the more precise lock in as I have been struggling to keep such a simple craft up in the air.

:dejection:
