Radio in Acro rather than Heli mode?

Hi everyone..

I'm an RC newbie. I had my first copter built by a pro and now that I'm learning to fly I'm also starting to learn about the hobby at
the same time.

I have a Quadcopter. What I want to know is, my radio was programmed using Acro mode rather than Heli mode. AM curious as to why
this would be the case. Can anyone guess? Or doesn't it matter? The quadcopter and radio seem to function perfectly but I can't help wondering
why not use Heli mode?

Also - I'm 'Radio Transmitter' illiterate basically. I only just worked out how to enter a new MODEL for my Phoenix Flight Sim.

Can anyone recommend a good way for me to learn all about the radio and how to program it for a heli? Is reading the manual of
any use? Seems complicated.

Thanks for your help.

Because you aren't flying a single rotor heli. The heli setting on the radio has a bunch of mixing that is not required for a MR. It tries to mix the movements required by all the servos on a swashplate of a srh, which a mr has none of.

In heli mode, the tranmitter mixes the channel outputs at the receiver for a heli CCPM head. In a quad / Multi with a flight controller, the controller does all the mixing for you. You just want basic 4 channels - fwd/back, left/right, yaw and throttle.

ok... u answered first... ;)

Is that it? Basic fwd/back, left/right, yaw and throttle?

SO you're saying that if I want to program my remote I should just use Acro mode for all future multicopters with a flight controller and those basic movements is all I will need?? If this is right it will make everythign a lot easier for
me to learn..

I came from the single rotor world so I'm very familiar with the transmitter programming options for single rotors. I don't want to complicate your learning process, but you can fly multirotors in heli modes on some transmitters. The ccpm swash mixing is setup during the initial setup for the model in the radio. If you choose single servo, or 90deg swash it will give you the same cyclic control characteristics as running acro mode. I use a dx7s with the hoverfly pro, and the only was to get adjustable throttle curves on the spektrum was to use heli mode. I can be done, but if done incorrectly your multirotor won't fly.

When I started I looked all over the place for "acrobatic mode" on my Futaba transmitter. I found out that its simply airplane mode.
