If you are emailing Kim directly it will be a while before you get a response. I have another email address for sales/parts that usually gets me a next day reply at worst. PM me and I'll let you know where to send the email.

With all the skyline problems they wont answer any of my emails anymore. I explained the problem to them and they were real nice a first on answering. But when none of the suggestions helped with the jitter problems they said its just you or your mount has slop in it. So I replied and said this was a brand new AV130 and I have other AV130 still on other stabilization and I get them to work ok say my guess its in the skyline I have thats when they just stopped answering my emails. Guess they were scared I wanted my money back and in reality all I wanted was a working skyline. So there customer support is far from great and will not deal with them in the future as well. As long as they are selling its great but if something is wrong do not think they will help anytime soon. Not trying to hard but these are just the facts of what happened to me.

Ross.. I would hold on to be honest. I have tried to support them by giving them feed back but it semed they started a ball rolling and did not want to stop it. The Skyline needs so more R&D and it has proved that there are to many issues yet. What are you wanting to do.

I enetered the recent competition & realised just how bad our video was!!!! I only have very basic tilt stablisation & looking at everyone elses entries made me realise just how poor our system is for video...it's great for stills, but no good for video.
I'm hoping to make a really smooth hardcore porn movie ;) not really, done that already years ago :) I'm wanting to film our beautiful countryside & coastal views, but I want it smooth as a bird in flight. Looking at the gimbal side of it, it seems like PH gimbals take some beating, so I'm after the AV200....my current mount is 5 years old. In photography worlds thats nothing, still a spring chicken, but in the MR world...it's noah's technology!
I need to get up to date or give up basically Dave.

The rumor is that a direct drive version of the AV200 is right around the corner. That would be cutting edge tech.

all the best,
Ben

Ross, I'd suggest getting the AV200 with the servos, and the RSGS skyline as the issues are sorted (to a point where they are very usable). I've seen the AV200 powered by direct drives, and its amazing. The Hero Gimbal is where I'll head, but there should also be an upgrade path for AV gimbals (servo versions) to direct drive. Take note though, its expensive technology at the moment, I'm guessing the drives will be more than the gimbals are currently. Get onto them and at least start using the AV200.

Thanks Nic, sorting things now as we type ;) I must admit direct drive should be ultra fast & stable....looking forward to seeing one in action.

Can anyone explain the potential market for a $3000-$4000 gopro gimbal? These gimbals seem to have a lot of potential once they get through R&D, but I can't imagen the application that would justify a a gimbal made for a gopro that is 10 times the cost of the camera. Not bashing, just dont get it.

I take it thats the "Hero" range...big,big,big bucks!!!!!!

Well thats what one might think, but heard 4000 NZD for the Hero 1000, and a whole, whole lot more for the others. Which is why I wonder what customer spends that much money on a gimbal for a consumer sports cam. Even for a thermal imaging cam. Although you are right we should wait and see. Everything is rumor until they come out with it.

It's one of the interest to buy your stuff in a reseller shop: they have easier contact and answer you quickly, and try to solve your problem, and doing after sale and ...

When you want to buy a car, you do not contact the manufacturer directly isn't it ? :)

His situation was unique. He was asked to contact the car manufacturer as he was runner up in a competition. ;)
