Notchy, gritty SunnySky motors when tightened

I've had a sporadic problem with SunnySky 2213 980KV motors recently where they get notchy or gritty when the propeller is tightened down. It feels like they are catching internally when the prop is tight, but spin freely when loose. Sort of like the magnets are super strong or something is catching as it is spun - but only with the prop on tightly.

I verified that it's not the screws that mount the motor to the frame, and removed the shaft accessory the bolts down to the motor. I wouldn't be surprised if these are cheap knock-offs and something warps when the prop is tightened. But unfortunately, since they all thread the same way, I need to make them tight so the props don't unexpectedly come off. My last crash was caused by that (on these motors) and I don't want to lose a prop at 200 feet again.

Before I throw these motors away, does anyone have any suggestions or a fix? And if they're ready for the trash, what's a good motor for a DJI F450?
