See below for the information from the updated Phantom 3 release notes. Notice that this update only applies to the P3 craft and connected components (FC, gimbal, camera) so there is no need to update the Tx (nothing would happen). As always, be sure to download the proper FW flavor (P3-Pro vs. P3-Adv). After deleting any prior FW update file that might remain from a prior FW version upgrade, place the new .bin file in the root (topmost) directory of a microSD card and follow the rest of the FW upgrade instructions.

The upgrade process should result in a new text file being written to the root of the microSD card indicating 'success' or not. Also there should be a 'hidden' file in the log (or misc?) directory that has all the gory details of the entire FW upgrade process which may be of interest, particularly in an issue arises.

Reports from early adopters appear mostly positive. There have been occasional instances of failed upgrade attempts, but repeating the process solves most of these. In one instance of mutiple reproducible update failures, a user finally had success by turning *on* the Tx as part of the process. Note that this is not the standard process and ymmv. I mention it only because that user had concluded (in part based on advice from DJI reps) that his unit was 'bricked'. Then he tried the 'turn everything on' approach (no props mounted, of course) and the FW update completed successfully.
