Mount dual camera question

Hey All

I'm a 6 year heli guy, now redefined as a multi freak!

My F550, Aeroxcraft brushlesss gimbal and mount are en route and hopefully here this week. Is there a generally accepted practice of mounting an FPV camera on the GoPro gimbal? I've read that in general, a separate FPV camera is better vs using the primary camera (GoPro) for redundancy etc. Assuming that is the case and as long as it's balanced, can i mount it on the gimbal too?

Thanks in advance!

You don't want to mount the fpv camera on the gimbal. You will not know what attitude your MR is in if it is being stabilized by the gimbal. That is why you use a second camera, not really for redundancy. You can use a switching device to toggle back and forth between the two cameras to check framing on the gopro if you want.

AH yes, thank you for mentioning that point!

I read a ton of discussions about that exact reasoning and I totally subscribe to it! However, I did fail to mention that I plan on using the iOSD from DJI. (you likely already know the following, but for discussion sake!)--> That device offers aircraft pitch and roll attitude monitoring graphics. Those graphic indicators are superimposed over the stabilized video imagery. That offering coupled with the fact that I plan on flying purely line-of-site for a while gives me confidence that it'll be a reasonable place to start.

There's a monumental shift about to occur from how I've flown RC! I'm trying to mitigate all the angles early, but I'm confident that time in the air with whatever new configuration I realize will be the best way to mature in this new aspect of the hobby!
