Motor / ESC Testing

I want to be able to test/compare the motor and esc against each other to see if we have a weak link. The challenge is to do this with the craft fully constructed. My idea is:

1) Isolate each motor by removing the feed from the DJI for the other motors.
2) Measure amps drawn by the motor at various points in the throttle range without props.
3) Repeat the same experiment with prop and additionally measure the pull of the motor with a spring scale.

Thoughts / comments really appreciated.

It sounds ok but make sure you are in manual mode because mode ATTI and GPS are autopilot modes and your amps measuring in related with throttle range is irrelevant.

Also be very careful when you test with props on! Be sure the craft is securely strapped on the table! Prop cuts may be very ugly!
