Looking to start building multi-rotors from Long Island NY

Hey everyone my name is Jake from Long Island, New York,
Going through my email, i received an email from Hobbyking.com and seen this Multi-rotor as one of the advertised pieces. So i looked into it a little bit and Wow these things are absolutely amazing. I don't currently own one however, i would like to build on myself. I play Airsoft a lot and these along with an onboard mounted streaming camera would be sick for ops. That is for the future obviously. But I am more than interested in building one, any advice on a starter build would be awesome. For now I am looking for a small indoor/outdoor one to fly around. A mounted camera would be awesome because then i could video Airsoft games held in the indoor arena i work at as well. I would love to L]learn all about building these, I work at an Airsoft shop and an Airsoft gun tech, I have plenty of patience and willingness to accomplish building one, just need some guidance and direction on what to build for starting out. If anyone has any website i could also look at to help as well, please comment of PM me so i could check it out. Thanks a lot for everyone who helps out

Thanks for those links, I tried pm'ing u about some things but your inbox is full. I was looking around about the CC3D but didnt see a price, is there any estimated from on what it's gonna cost? I also have no clue as to whats needed to build one of these multi rotors, a list of parts that are needed to build would be awesome.

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
Stang152, welcome to the site. Didn't you have a Hangar 9 Cap 232 for sale on RCG a while back? I seem to recognize your username from somewhere.

There's lots of good stuff if you snoop around a bit. The Open Pilot group has a lot going on although they bailed out of here a while back and we haven't heard much about their progress. Jes1111 is nice enough to keep us aware that the project lives on.

We're trying to get a multi-rotor fly-in organized but scheduling challenges keep getting in the way. The year isn't over yet, take a look at the Local Action forum and subscribe to the North East thread about a get together.

How far out on the island are you?

Thanks alot Bart, As regards to the first question, No I have not had a "Hangar 9 Cap 232 for sale on RCG", in fact i have no idea what that is. I'm Brand new to this hobby, to be honest, about 3-4 hours in to be somewhat precise. I am Located in East Islip on Long Island so i'm pretty far in. And i'll also go check out the Local Action forum too.

I know I've seen your username somewhere before. Oh well, welcome to the site and feel free to ask any questions as they come up.

A Hangar 9 Cap 232 is an RC plane that I've been longing for for a number of years. FOr some reason though I can spend $200 at a pop on a bunch motor controllers but $150 for a good new-old-stock airframe seems excessive! It makes no sense!

Be prepared to do a lot of reading :)

If you're good with your hands I'd recommend building your first frame yourself rather than buying - just a couple of aluminium tubes and some fibreglass plates is all it needs. Lots of build threads here with examples of fancier frames, too.

CC3D price is under $100 - can't remember the exact price.

Good luck!

Aerial DP
it's easier to start with something cheap and less fragille but that'd work. it is a spider type, cg is back a bit so they fly better than hover. I prefer the TBS discovery for it's ruggedness, but nothing as tough as a regular old f450 to get crashing on...... frames take anything, the rest will break alot of parts you can't just go buy, but order and wait

with this you can go get a f450 arf, crash it a while and have something to look forward to swapping all your parts over to. it's a nice fpv/ap rig, has a great small camera mount.
