Long Flight Time Autonomous Multi-rotor Help

Hi,
Will appreciate to get some info from the experience gained in this group.
I am looking to build an autonomous multi-rotor to be fixed with a thermal sensor and to do a predefined route.
I need this to be off the shelf products (can buy separate parts and assemble by my self) with as long as possible flight time.
Will be happy to hear some thoughts about the recommended equipment for this kind of mission.

Thanks,

Yaniv

I have built and flown three multicopters that all use an APM2.6 flight controller/autopilot. I have not flown long distances all have been in VLOS - less than 1 KM. I'm controlling my aircraft with a Spektrum DX8 transmitter - not sure about the range and not inclined to test its limits.

But you can get a Dragon Link http://www.fpvpro.com/dragonlink/ system that plugs into your transmitter via the trainer port and get long range control. I think a Dragon Link with either an APM or Pixhawk setup will do what you need.
