Jim in Saugus Massachusetts USA Checking in

Hi, I first joined this forum in 2012 asking for advice.

I'm thankful for the tips and guidance members gave me.

The only MR I've had is a DJI F550, first flew in late Sept 2012. For the first year or more I only flew a goPro Hero 2 under it, no gimbal.

Early in 2014 I acquired a used Sony NEX 6 16MM 2.8. Made a custom bracket, still no gimbal. At this point, any gimbal would put me WAY over recommended max weight.

I'm into shooting still photos more so than video right now. Without a gimbal, who can blame me?
On a related note, I am aware that there is more of a market for aerial video than aerial stills.

So,...

At some point, maybe in the spring of 2015 I'll be in the market for a real, stabilized rig that will carry MORE than just a goPro. I have a Canon 5D and 7D but don't necessarily need to fly either of those.

A DJI S900 kit, Zenmuse gimbal, A2, ($3800) looks interesting. Any suggestions?
My budget would not be much more than 5K

As a side note, I'm not impressed with the fact that these Zenmuse gimbals will only allow for 1 specific lens. I understand that brushless gimbals require perfect balance to work.
I learned from someone who has what he calls a "stills" rig that a servo controlled til axis allows for different lenses to be used.

Anyway I wanted to check in and also sing out to any flyers in my area who might want to meet up for some dogfighting. I usually fly on weekends and often travel
the north shore of Massachusetts and southern NH looking for interesting places to photograph. I like scenes showing water but avoid flying over it unless photo ops warrant the risk.

Have a peak at some of my photos, if you get the urge, or just reply to say hello:
