Hi all, i'm a new phantom owner and new to the hobby also. I just wondered if there was any products out there that could tell me the distance my phantom is from me or how high it is in the air? Thanks for your help.

Yes there is... you will need to either use some form of telemetry or FPV (First Person View)... You will need a camera, video transmitter, receiver or Fatshark googles and a device like ezosd from immersion RC. Immersion RC make a lot of good products for FPV and Groundstations, like the 600mw TX unit, the EZosd, Groundstation receivers and even long distance control transmitters.
Here is some links, but I would try to avoid hobbyking, they are normally out of stock, extremely slow as they are in China somewhere. Try your local dealers first, they can explain a lot more and help you on the right track.

Which reminds me, I need to contact HobbyKing and cancel my 3 week back order.....
Only problem you will have is SPACE, there is not much room on the Phantoms as you can see, it has been done by people, don't get me wrong....

Telemetry is also available with the Spektrum DX8 and higher radios
with add on's for GPS, altitude, distance, forward speed, temp. etc.
The readout is on the face of the radio.
