indoor delivery drone

Hi,

I’m an absolute beginner when it comes to drones so I need some help from the experts here…

I would like to buy a multirotor drone we can use indoor at our office/warehouse. It could be a ready-to-fly model or something I can made from various components or order from a builder.

Basically, we would like to fly it around our office and use for delivery of various light-weight items around the office. So I need something like that Amazon delivery drone or Yo!Sushi waiter drone, only for indoor use.

Ideally, it would be able to fly solo based on pre-programmed routes.

The drone should have
- tray or a box under or over the drone, or the ability to attach one (we can 3D print that if its not available for purchase)
- ability to flight straight without tilting too much (if any)
- payload at least 1 kg (1000 grams)
- speed or ability to fly high/long is not important
- landing gear
- easy to land
- low noise
- interchangeable battery
- some kind of sensor so it doesn’t crash into somebody
- prop guards
- programable, with iOS or Android user interface, maybe WiFi
- reliable
- priced around $1000-$2000 (could be more if necessary)

Am I dreaming here or is something like this available?

Thanks guys for your help!

Dreaming? Afraid so...but the technology is here, in various states of undress:

- tray or a box under or over the drone, or the ability to attach one (we can 3D print that if its not available for purchase)
Can be done.

- ability to flight straight without tilting too much (if any)
Can't be done. Pitch/roll is required for movement with fixed rotors

- payload at least 1 kg (1000 grams)
Can be done

- speed or ability to fly high/long is not important
Can be done

- landing gear
Yup

- easy to land
That's variable...

- low noise
Not with a 1kg payload. And how loud is too loud?

- interchangeable battery
Yup

- some kind of sensor so it doesn’t crash into somebody
Add $1,000,000 to your budget to research and implement this indoor sensor array and object sensing algorithims.

- prop guards
Yup

- programable, with iOS or Android user interface, maybe WiFi
Can be done. Add more money to the $1m listed above.

- reliable
Lol. Theoretically, it can be.

- priced around $1000-$2000 (could be more if necessary)
Drop the object sensing and indoor sensor array, and maybe.

The short answer, yes, something like this does exist, but it's not a drone. Don't try to reinvent the wheel. There are already several warehouse robotics companies out there that can meet your needs, they just don't fly. Try http://www.symbotic.com for starters.

Mr take no prisoners!
For a couple of hundred dollars you could just use an RC car and the bonus is that it is unlikely to gouge out someones eyes when it bumps into them or chop their jugular when it rounds the corner at neck height.

Seriously though just pick the thing up and walk over and place it on the other persons desk, you need the exercise anyway. I get up from my desk quite regularly, it is called MBWA (Management By Walking Around).

Cheers

Pete
