I've just started flying multi-rotor. I flew fixed wing in the late 70's and again between 2010 and 2011 (had some stuff to do in between; wife, kids, divorce & such). Had to take a break in 2011 because of work demands, but I'm back in the air again with my shiny new TR1 tricopter. It's amazing how well this thing flies with the little KK2 installed. So far, I've limited myself to the backyard where nobody can see if I crash, but it's getting tense avoiding trees now that I'm past the hover. I've been good so far, but the time for prop breaking is coming as I fly faster through the gauntlet and the yard is small. Still taking baby steps, but at least I'm not afraid to get off the ground.

I worked in embedded controls many years ago, so I'm looking forward to tinkering with Arduino on my next project. I've already got the Arduino Mega 2560 and have been tinkering in between work tasks (for some reason, they expect me to do stuff).

I'll likely start a quad next month just for grins. I bought a F450 frame from the LHS, but my target is something larger to meet the challenge posed by my neighbor across the street. He wants to see if I can deliver beer and the TR1 is a bit small for hauling a six pack. I'm working on some Delrin and release mechanism for that task.

Are there any other flyers in San Antonio interested in meeting for a session in a park to burn through some batteries?
