Gaui Guai 500X Won't bank right/backwards

Hello
Wondering if someone around could help me.

Setup:
I have a Guai 500X with the GU-344 Gyro and a DSX11 2.4GHz TX

Description:
The copter itself seems to be flying fine, I seem to have the hang of it.
To fly forward, the nose dips down nicely and to bank right the right side
dips well. But when it comes to the opposite motion, moving the sticks
left/backwards, the quad copter does nothing at all.

To compensate for this, I have trimmed the TX controls way left and
backwards, now when I put it into HOVER, it moves backwards and banks
left. Obviously this isn't correct, it takes a while for the gyro to stabalise
enough to get it level and then only then, slowly it starts making its way
backwards, while I am on the stick the whole time conteracting that motion.

What I have tried:

Well, I have tried setting the ESCs back to factory, but I didn't actually get
that far. I tried following the instructions here
http://pwrcfs.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-111.html
and in the GU-344 manual, but to no avail. The ESCs enter setup mode, but
I can't 'enter' the mode(by moving the throttle back to 0) after the correct
tones, it just carries on calling out the options.

I'm not sure that's even the problem, what led me to believe that, is that
when the battery dies, the back right motor cuts out. I see there is a 'soft-cut'
menu option, I thought maybe this ESC is somehow set to hard-cut, meaning it
may not be calibrated or something.

Help would be greatly appreciated, I think once I have this I can move on to
installing FPV(Can't wait for that).

Thanks

So as a follow up. I think I managed to figure out how to set and calibrate the ESCs.
I set them all to default and calibrated them. Still no change to the handling.

I tried holding it while throttling up. There is a definite feel of the motors changing
speeds when I go forward, and bank to the right. I feel no change when it's done
trying to go backwards and to the left. It feels like there is nothing happening.
Could this be cause by burned out motors(Though they're all spinning fine and I
can actually fly the thing)? Maybe faulty gyro/receiver?

I have the same quad and it works great! Have you tried moving motors/ speed controllers to a different arm for trouble shooting? Only thing I can think of off the top of my head.
