FLIR thermal imaging about $200

I got this email and thought I would post info in case anyone is interested in the FLIR LEPTON. You probably want to get some extras, but this is a pretty good deal. I had been following the LEPTON for a while, but FLIR, is, FLIR and can be a pain unless you want to pay top price. I copied a good section of the email, as I wasnt sure how to get the whole thing to come over.

LEPTON is the most compact thermal imaging sensor available as an OEM product. Effective as both a thermal sensor and imager, Lepton combines an 80 × 60 pixel array, special lens, and advanced image processing into a camera body that is smaller than a dime. Lepton self-optimizes, has a time-to-image of less than half a second, and has an export-compliant frame rate of < 9Hz.

Lepton is bringing new thermal imaging capabilities to a wide range of products, including mobile devices, security cameras, unmanned vehicles (UVs), and automated systems for home and business, among others. In fact, Lepton is built inside the FLIR ONE iPhone 5/5s accessory, which won a “Best in Show” award at Macworld 2014. FLIR ONE blends a thermal image from Lepton with a visible image from a standard CMOS camera. The result is a thermal image with edge detail that provides greater definition of objects and scenes.

Available Models
Lepton comes with one of two lenses: a narrow field of view (NFoV) 25° lens and a 50° wide field of view (WFoV) lens. The 50° model is available with or without an integrated shutter. The shutter option provides a convenient, built-in way to compensate for any drift in pixel response over time.

Without a shutter, the camera needs to be exposed periodically to an external source or scene that is uniform in temperature to “touch up” the image quality. Other lens options are in development. Discover more details at www.flir.com/lepton.

How to Order (Getting Started)
Individual hobbyists and DIY enthusiasts can now purchase a Lepton without a shutter starting at under $210, exclusively through Group Gets, an online crowd funding site. Customers can reserve between one and 100 Leptons during a "campaign," with each campaign lasting 30 days. If the campaign meets the 100-piece minimum threshold, FLIR will deliver the Leptons to Group Gets. (FLIR currently cannot process orders from individuals).

Sample code for Lepton is available now at github.com

Two things I picked up on related to MRs:
1- You sometimes have to pop the module in and out of the breakout board to reboot it.
2- It's very sensitive to static.
