F550 Adding the Gimbal: X468 ST GoPro Camera Mount/Gimbal

I am in the process of adding the gimbal to the F550. As this is my first Multicopter I got it built and have since learned quite a bit but there is always room for improvement. Having read many times the Naza set up guide but having never used the set up assistant software I am cautious to start messing w/ the current settings.

Will it simply be a case of changing only the gimbal setting? IE, will the software read the current settings and display them? Also, what about upgrading the firmware, would that have any detrimental effect to the current settings.
