AR Drone Extending motor arms

I have a sport central cross on my 2.0 and managed to crack two or the motor arms. I found a carbon fiber square tube of the same exterior and interior dimensions and am going to replace the arms rather than spending more money on a new cross.
I am considering making the arms two inches longer thinking the drone would be more stable when hovering. ( i plan to extend the internal wiring.) Has anyone tried extending the motor arms and if so, what was the result? Would it be more or less stable? Thanks.

Well I think it would be less stable as the motors are further out if they're close together the flex in the arms would be less. How ever you can then use larger props with longer arms and that might make it more stable and add some flight time so it's a trade off depending on what you want to do. If you make it longer it doesn't work well you can always cut the arms down.
