Drifting in GPS

Hey gang,

I finally wrapped up my DJI install and get some tests in. Overall, I'm very pleased, but there is some drift when in GPS mode. So far, all of my settings are stock. Any idea were I should be looking to remove this drift? It seems to be ok most of the time, but maybe 1/3 times it will drift off in a certain direction till I correct it. Could I possibly need to raise the GPS sensor, or rotate it slightly? I'm using the middle sized shaft right now.

Thanks!

Nothing at all, Boris. It's bone stock out of the box. I was looking through the software and I can't really tell which of the gains would control that.

Ok, so I finally started tweaking some of my gains. The atti mode holds great, and stays very stable. I'm still seeing some drift in GPS mode though. Do you think I might have my compass twisted a little bit? I notice that I start to get some slight wobble when I put it into GPS mode. It's almost as if it needs to be trimmed differently for each mode. I can get it to stop drifting in GPS if I trim it a little, but then when I go back to atti it drifts in the opposite direction.

Any clues?

BTW.. I got this very boring shot this morning. The building in the left side of the shot is the Baltimore Ravens training facility. I've never flown this high before without being in the goggles, so it was a first for me. Very easy when you have GPS mode to keep you out of the tree tops. I've got a bunch of shots I want to get over the holiday break and I think I will finally be able to start checking them off of my list.

As far as I remember, you need to adjust the GPS gains in "advanced parameters", check page 14 of the users manual. I'm sure the instructions were also posted in the WKM forum.

The GPS hold is only adjusted by the "disturbed" advanced setting, which I haven't messed with. Your description of the problem sounds like you need to play with your CG settings.. most likely the "Z" setting, which is mainly a guess anyway. That is, after you have put each gain on a slider and adjusted for best performance.
