choosing your Esc's

There are so many different types of Esc's and the prices vary so much. How does a newbee make the choice. I am looking at some at http://robotbirds.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1379 and can't decide if I should pay more and get the http://www.giantcod.co.uk/hobbywing-40amp-pentium-speed-controller-p-42.html
Any advice would be appreciated.

There are too many options. I would say the one you have linked to or the maytechs are your best bet from reading what people have had success with. The DJI units seem to like the 400hz esc's such as the maytechs.

I am building a coper with DJI unit and with Torxpower motors. Does price matter when buying esc's, or are you often paying for a brand.

most of the better escs in that range will be $30-40. I think the only ones that are out of the ballpark are going to be AXI or Kontroniks.
