Cannot get NAZA M to enter compass calibration

I posted in the build section but very quiet in there today.

I have just built a 550 with naza m v2 with gps. I only have a DX6i transmitter so no 3 way switch. I set the flight modes to GPS and GPS atti on my gear switch. According to the dji wiki, to put the naza into compass calibration mode I need to toggle the flight mode switch 6 to 10 times and then expect a solid yellow light. I have tried repeatedly but to no avail, is this because I must have a 3 position switch?

edit: Changed the allocation of the flight mode switch to GPS and manual, no better.

Start in manual mode and quickly switch between this and GPS ending on GPS and the light should do as expected I just tried it on a DX6i and it worked fine repeatedly
