Auto Land??

I was thinking about the features that DJI implemented in their updates. The one I like most is IOC (Intelligent Orientation Control), and RTH (Return to Home). What do you think about an Auto Land feature for setting the craft down safely where ever it's at. I think it would be great for flying at distance and you need to safely land it vs using a kill switch (CSC) and dumping it or using the RTH. It could also be great for FPV pilots that lose video signal in tight terrain.

I think it would be a great safety feature in the event a problem occurs and you want to set the craft down. The flight controller may be better for most to correct a bad situation than most pilots have skill.

Its better than using CSC and dropping the craft from the sky (that may not be necessary).

Auto land would work like RTH except it will land in place.

You can already do it, in the Autopilot screen of the Assistant go to the Enhanced Failsafe methods and set it to landing instead of go home and landing, triggering failsafe or shutting of the TX will then cause it to land where it is at the moment. Only downside is then you can't use the RTH feature, it's one or the other, and DJI can't implement both since they don't have enough control ports (X1, X2, X3) available to enable all the features at the same time.

Yeah, don't quite understand this, this feature has been around for quite a while. You can program a switch to take over if you loose sight of it, your radio dies, goes out of range Etc... At the flick of a switch, mine will go into failsafe and return to home. It is in the DJI manual, but how you program your certain radio is not.

Why not use the RTH? it'll land too but closer to you, instead of landing on someones home or head lol.

The Fail safe function is called RTH - Return to Home but it can also be configured to land at the last recorded GPS position in case the pilot is also travelling by vehicle or boat, i.e., car chase etc. and don't want it to return to the original take-off spot.
Best to have it land close to where the pilot is in either case.

Thanks! I was thinking of a feature that would allow the craft to land automatically where ever it was flown without having to return to home. Specifically in the event of an emergency where you needed to set the craft down immediately vs. having it return to home. I currently use the RTH feature as a back up or fail safe.

@RTryder thanks! That cleared up my question. :).

Sorry for all of the confusion.
