you can do this in ptgui but it looks like the train was photoshopped into the pic after

I saw a big thread on this somewhere a while back, but can't find it now typically - its built of slices at different angles using photoshop, there is limited info here:

You could try dedicated panorama stitching software - http://hugin.sourceforge.net/ is solid.

Normally for panoramas you try to pivot the camera about its optical center, so I don't know how it would work with such a large translation. You might find luck with trying different projection modes.
