A2 Cinewing 6HL Second Flight Compass won't calibrate?

I received my Cinewing 6HL RTF two days ago...after a couple of days of checking out everything and tie down testing the weather broke loose today for my first flight. Since the compass was calibrated in CA and I live in VA one of the first things I did was to calibrate it. Everything went smooth and got the green home lock light. Flew very carefully for about 10 minutes and brought her home. Switched out to a fresh battery and powered up...red, purple and weird light configurations...so I toggled the switch to reset the compass and did another calibration...after the vert. movement of craft the lights do the same thing blinking red and purple...tried to recalibrate several more times with the same results and called it a day...I am fairly new to all this new technology and any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. https://vimeo.com/89445711

What facilities within the Assistant for error messages are you referring to, Ed? I have found that the A2 is pretty moody when it comes to calibrating the compass and often have to do it several times before it gives the OK. There is nothing in the Assistant that I have noticed other than confirmation of correct Mode switching.

My new EVO, which arrived with faulty retracts and and a faulty A2 Main Control, behaved properly after replacing those two items until I checked firmware versions following the multiple DJI notices about making sure ALL components were properly upgraded - including the GPS module. I did not even know about the diagram with hot links to check info and updates etc. within the Assistant because it is not mentioned in the manual. If it is, it is not obvious.

Anyway, I discovered that everything was up-to-date except the GPS module. I updated it and now the GPS hold function does not work. It starts off okay and then starts to drift off in random directions at ever increasing speed.

I will give it one more calibration and test flight before swapping it for the spare GPS in the replacement A2 box.

Mombasa,

The Assistant has a number error codes that it can display. I wanted to see if any of them were displayed. The first A2 that I received I could not calibrate the compass no matter what I did. I received a replacement GPS puck and all was well. I have not had issues since that time. I have upgraded mine and have not noticed that. It has been very windy in Vegas the last few days. I will confirm when I can fly again. I need to do some more tests on the Lightbridge anyway. I want to get out at least 1k with my pig of a F550.

I have not plugged in the assistant software yet...I am a mac pro user with an old PC somewhere in the closet...will assistant work with mac? I have heard both pros and cons about using the Mac. When compass calibrating the first time everything went smooth...but trying to recalibrate on second flight, after no green home lock lightt it would not remember the settings with strange rash of red and purple lights. When I calibrated the second time the lights turned green after toggling the switch...which according to DJI A2 inst. that is the go for the vert. calibration not the horiz. calibration which supposed to be yellow. Should I reverse the calibration process such as green light do the vert calibration then see if yellow comes on to do horiz. calibration. That is the exact reverse procedure from my Phantom 2 Vision. horiz. first then vert. calibration. I will hook up assistant software today and just check things out as well as try to recalibrate again. Thanks for your suggestions.

DJI does have a MAC version for the A2. I would try that. I would not reverse the compass calibration. It is the same across all DJI products.

Thanks Ed, I will give it a shot.....I did download the A2 Software and looked around on my Cinewing. Strange? Gimbal setting was cut to off...but it works fine? I will give it the reverse calibration today later on...just got to haul the beast down one floor to the outside...Now my gimbal battery will not charge - charged the other day and now it says ck main connenction....I could not charge it last time with the balancer plugged in...said dead cel....I am so glad that I am leaving town on Friday and get all this crap out of mind and out of site for a week...when I get back then I will be able to tackle all of these technical problems. I will be checking in on the forum so anything else you can think of would be of help. Thanks
