8FG & Naza set-up

I'm going to make a video tomorrow to get all the functions set using channels assigned to the top left 3 position switch for (Manual/Alt/GPS) the 2 position switch behind that one on the top left for forced Failsafe & the middle knob for Gain control.

Also setting (loss of signal/8FG turn off) failsafe with the end point and minimum 10% throttle "per Naza instructions"

The one problem I'm getting, which I don't know if it's an actual worry, is that I can get all the failsafes to show in the designated failsafe boxes in the Assistant software EXCEPT for one. Either the manual/failsafe or GPS/failsafe depending on my mixing if I go negative or positive in my Aux6-Aux5 mix for the 2 toggle switches.

one of the failsafes goes off the screen (still says failsafe) but being outside the actual failsafe indicators really bothers me since I'm a stickler!

There are a few vids but they are both done Very different because you can assign whatever channels to switches you want I guess

Also how are most mounting and angling the antennas of the R6208SB receiver?Antennas at the 90degree split facing upward or downward?

I will be watching this very closely, I'm literally away to buy an 8fg today for my f450 and Naza+GPS that's currently on its way from Quadcopters. Having never done anything like this at all I will learning as much as I can on setting up the tx from this post. During my setup if I come across anything I will let you know.

Richard.

The assistant software shows everything register... The only thing is that I can't get the forced failsafe to go multiple ways so it shows in the box. It still shows failsafe when it goes off the registering section though.

I'm open to mixing ideas
If not I am not going to worry since it says failsafe on the bottom right of the screen and the VU LED indicates that failsafe is indeed on (fast blinking yellow)

Hi, this video helped me a lot (not mine). As for the antennas, I made a "V" using the cutoffs from 2 zip-ties glued together, that stick out from the rear tab of the F450 bottom plate, and with some heat shrink attached the antennas so the wire ends stick out in approx 90 degree angle.
Hope this helps!

Hi, this video helped me a lot (not mine).
Yea I watched his video also but I don't see a switch assigned to go failsafe; only the failsafe when turned off. My 3 position switch works going into all 3 options (Man/Att/GPS) and my failsafe works when the 8FG turns off but I also added the feature of failsafe by the flip of the SF toggle switch. I can enter failsafe while flying from any mode on command. I'm just trying to get all 3 to register on the assistants "failsafe box" I get the GPS & ATT to show in the failsafe box but flipping into failsafe from Manual just goes off the screen; still saying failsafe at the bottom right.

One big thing I don't see people doing is setting in failsafe a Minimum 10% throttle... Per Naza it needs that incase for any reason you bump below 10%. That's a biggie that I see many people missing

I think I'm trying to achieve a multi point function that's not going to end up in the box. The assistant still shows failsafe and the VU LED indicator verifies failsafe as well. This is the "perfectionist" part that makes me want to smack myself, LOL

Have a pic?

Thanks mitsaras!

I'm at work now, later when I get home.
Thanks!

I spent some time and don't see anything wrong with my channel assignment... Does anyone?

Ail
Ele
Thr
Rud
Gear
Aux6
Aux5

I'll be making a full start to finish video of the set-up showing that everything works with how I have it. Minus the one toggle forced failsafe going off the screen

Sorry for the crappy pic :shame:, this was my first attempt - now I have just the zipties bent & glued to the bottom plate, but my quad is a little disassembled now... I'm installing landing legs, gimbal & fpv Tx.

P.S. make sure the antennas are out of reach of the props...!!!

I like that little mount for the tubes, what material was that?

Thanks,
Jon

OOOH Kloner, I cleared my inbox! Whoops

Ok, I need to redo my channels from Ail to the bottom 7th channel.

Kavi is looking at his settings for me, my X2 is moving with the Gear channel I have set for my gain control which seems to be a problem... The work continues.

Ok, Kavi sent me some screen shots and I was able to make it work 100% correct and damn was it easy!
I really over thought the mixing stuff coming from Spektrum.

HUGE thanks to Kavi and I'll make a full instructional vid to keep on tap for any others needing it.
This weekend is 1mile and a car chase :)

Thanks for the great instructional vids, keep it up Des. Looks like the 8FG may be the most commonly used Tx on the Naza. Iv got a 8FG coming soon so this has been like Futaba porn for me.

LOL, I love the feel and options the Futaba gives. Can't wait to test my 1-mile range this weekend.

I'll get the full video up this weekend also for those needing help using S.bus and I'll make sure to talk while going through all menus so everyone looking will understand the reason for channel assignment and options.

Quick pics I just snapped before running out the door

Ok, made a custom mount as I hated the first rendition that didn't get the antennas out in the open. Let me know what ya' think!

Range check was unimpressive... I have the antennas high & at 90 degrees. Figured I'd be able to go a mile but at the 1/2 mile point with a ground test it went failsafe. I guess we'll see what it does in the air tomorrow

I think there are too many electronics in a small space, for good range... In the air you'll probably get better results. Anyway, keep us posted!

EDITED!

Well at the 1/4 mile the quad started twitching... (THAT'S right only a 1/4 mile) so I brought it back.

I'm disappointed so far, guess I'll need to look at wiring and see if the antennas need to be repositioned... Anyone have pics of theirs with the Futaba Rx set-up so I can see of the antennas need to be drastically moved? I'm literally going to toss the antennas in tandem areas to see what happens.

Bummed!
