FS - Gaui Crane III camera gimbal

Selling a used Gaui Crane 3 camera gimbal and DJI F550 mounting plate in great working condition. Asking $200, which includes priority shipping via USPS to conus. This gimbal has served me well and is a great entry into aerial still photography for several reasons... - It mounts very easily...

Aluminum arms for dji flamewheel frames

I can confirm that Ina crash the upper, lower or both boards will crack. The arms are really solid, however. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Power distribution board vs power harness

Well I put my dilemma to rest... I've decided to rebuild my 650 with the integrated f550 board. I was pretty happy with the flight characteristics prior to my little crash. Thanks for all the feedback everyone!

Power distribution board vs power harness

So if I'm hearing you all right, you're suggesting a pdb? :) Anyone know what the f550 integrated board is rated at? Guessing at least 180 amps since they kit it with 30 a escs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Power distribution board vs power harness

Hey all, Where does everyone stand on using a power harness instead of a power board? I'm leaning towards the wire harness for a new medium lift quad (3kg auw). I'm using 940kv motors and 30a escs on a 3s2p setup. Thanks.

Aluminum arms for dji flamewheel frames

I can say from personal experience that the board will be destroyed in a crash with the aluminum arms. Top plate cracked in three places and two on the bottom plate. Here's the crash: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6nqcPBpz2o&sns=em Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My Crash Reel - you know you want it

I normally wouldn't continue flight with these oscillations but I climbed up over that tree a bit faster than I would have liked. When it leveled out briefly I thought it may be good but then well, you see what happened. It wasn't a maiden. I previously had really solid flights with the same...

My Crash Reel - you know you want it

The smoke wasn't for effect. One of the lipos ignited. Scary stuff Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My Crash Reel - you know you want it

Had a major crash yesterday on my hex. Lots of carnage and smoke! Now if I only knew what went wrong.... Thoughts? I haven't fired up my Naza again - if it comes to life, think I should still use it?

Is the DJI F550 a good choice?

Totally agree about the arm extensions. I added the extended aluminum arms from ReadyMade RC to my F550 as well upgraded the motors. It's essentially a 650 now. With 12" props, 2 3S 4000mah lipos in parallel and AUW of 3kg I get over 12 minute flight times. Included on my rig are a Gaui crane 3...

    Sony NEX 5 Gimbal Recommendations

Thanks for the feedback guys and sorry for the delayed reply... I agree that a cradle type gimbal may be a better option even though the trend seems to be the single-sided versions. I also believe in buying things once (within reason). While I'd love to go for a high-end gimbal, I have to be...

Is the DJI F550 a good choice?

Greetings, Rourke and welcome. The following thread may help you in determining if the F550 is going to be a good machine for you. Personally, I agree that it's a fantastic place to start. Good luck! Check out this thread...

    Sony NEX 5 Gimbal Recommendations

Hey all, I'm looking to update the gimbal for my Sony NEX and considering purchasing the Asterix Brushless gimbal from BambuCopters.com - http://www.bambucopter.com/asterix-brushless-gimbal/ Has anyone dealt with them? I'm a bit leery as there is no contact info and I can't say I've seen their...

    Beginner Seeking Advice [Aerial Film/Photo]

I don't think it can be said enough times but when cutting battery wires, CUT ONE AT A TIME. :) I think it's a great idea to watch a few videos of lipo fires to drive home the respect for these volatile batteries. Keep them stored in a cool dry location and make sure to not drop or puncture...

    Beginner Seeking Advice [Aerial Film/Photo]

Congrats PCM! You're gonna have a blast putting this together. Take it slow and be methodical. One small note- dji recommends using a 3S lipo with 10" props and 4S with 8" props. If you bought the F550 kit it should include both prop sizes. Also, the kit will include all necessary wires to...

    Beginner Seeking Advice [Aerial Film/Photo]

Chipwich, Do you have any experience with brushless gimbals that can accommodate a Sony Nex size camera? Are there any that might be a direct plug into the Naza or would I need a separate controller? I'm controlling the pan/tilt of the camera from my rx but want roll to be handled by a controller.

    Beginner Seeking Advice [Aerial Film/Photo]

I agree with you guys about going the way of the brushless gimbal, especially if you're shooting video. There are way more options available today for much less money than there were a couple of years ago when I was buying. I also chose a servo based gimbal because it was less complex of a...

    Beginner Seeking Advice [Aerial Film/Photo]

@motopreserve, yes the crane gimbal is a servo gimbal and while they are out of vogue, it does provide a few benefits as a starter gimbal. First it was relatively inexpensive when I bought it used over a year and a half ago. Second, it's fairly light and doesn't need a separate control board...
