have I thrown away all this money for nothing?

You didn't say what mode this was in (or I missed it). The copter will drift randomly on ATTI mode even after leveling itself; more so in manual, where it will hold whatever attitude you command, so you do need to continually correct out drift. So long as the drift is random (you don't see a...

    Futaba 12FG and Naza failsafe

Looks like there are two different failsafes being discussed here. One is set between the radio and RX, the other in the Naza by way of software and aux channel gain. The RX failsafe, in a Futaba setup (and unlike Spektrum which sets failsafe during bind) is controlled by the failsafe menu...

Want to make sure I don't ruin my batteries...

As the previous poster said, yes it's perfectly normal - in fact, it's a sign that the ESCs are in good condition! The spark is caused by the ESCs' capacitors charging. I run 3S with my setup, and still get a small pop with the 30A ESCs. 12S setups make a really big pop! You can get antispark...

Want to make sure I don't ruin my batteries...

Eh, forget about the LV warning - just do it the old-fashioned way, with a cell checker and a timer! With your pack on an F450 I'd expect at least 12 minutes of average flight. Start with your timer at ten minutes, then charge and see how much you put back in. Take the number of mah you put...

Using Futaba channels 1 to 7 when also using S-bus

Update - to accomplish it as the HFfolks do it, the SBus box on the receiver end needs to support remapping. The way it's done used a CGY-750 FBL controller, which supports moving SBus channels around. To do it with the Naza, as the previous poster said you need an R6303SB (not the R6203) RX...

Using Futaba channels 1 to 7 when also using S-bus

I'm not sure how to do it or if it's receiver-specific, but I know you can remap channels in the 8FG radio (it's what I have). This issue has come up with folks who run a flybarless setup via S-Bus and a three channel 6203 receiver, where normally the three channels do mirror the first three...

    IMU Calibration

Hmmm... my Naza has always had a drift to the right, even on the older firmware. Actually, IIRC, it tended to drift more right and forward with the old firmware, although the drift front was affected by tweaking the gains. I don't think it's ever not drifted right. I had hopes the calibration...

    IMU Calibration

@Explorocam - interesting thread, my machine responds the same way! Definite drift to the right in atti mode; if I steady it in a hover and let the cyclic go neutral, it will start drifting right and pick up speed unless I give it left cyclic. To get it to sit still, I need to keep in a constant...

Issues Charging Hyperion LiPo 3S Power Pack

+1 to that. When you give the CSC it should, if everything is setup correctly, start the props spinning, and then let you advance the throttle/collective and lift off. If the props aren't starting, it could be that you have a flight mode switch on the TX that's set it to failsafe - which means...

    F-450 Motors

Thanks for the input. I ask because I'm wondering what sorts of upgrades would let me increase the payload beyond DJI's listed AUW of 1.6 kilos - the ESCs at 30A have headroom to turn something bigger. Or is it a lost cause given prop size limits on the F450 frame?

Recommended Li-Poly Batteries and Charger/conditioner etc.

Pick up an iCharger 306B and 24V power supply (you can't reach the full potential of the charger with a 12V supply). Progressive RC (www.progressiverc.com) has combo deals where you can get the charger, PS and a case in one shot.

Issues Charging Hyperion LiPo 3S Power Pack

I'd add that depending on what Lipo charge mode you're in, you'll need to have both the balance plug and main leads connected, not just the main - e.g. If you're charging in balance mode (which you should use unless you're in a real rush).

    F-450 Motors

Any suggestions for motors to run w/ 10" graupners and 4S? By my read, dji recommends 3S with 10" props (what I run now), and in theory at max rpm the 920kv motors would overspeedthe props beyond graupner's max speed. The 30A ESCs have more than enough juice to run something bigger. At 4S, that...
