    Monster 16 Motor Drone

You are conservatively talking about 350lb+ of lift potential there. If they managed to keep it under 55 lbs (which they won't with big cameras - assuming that's what they are going for), it's a T/W ~ 6. Which is absurd. I am sure there are other applications for it, but it's just overkill...

Av200 indirect drive brushless upgrade demo

Interesting. I always go the other direction when I have roll problems - i will test that out. Thanks!

Av200 indirect drive brushless upgrade demo

Looks pretty good. What did you change for the horizon locked? We have had that issue with some of the alexmos products as well. Generally the advanced cal helps, but not all of the time. One question i have is if this is really sized for a RED? I have the 550d with that same lens, and the...

Av200 indirect drive brushless upgrade demo

Thanks, Booma. I'll email Kim Looks like they have mounted the RED upside down too. Wonder if that is for balance. With their "Epic" mount on the standard AV200, it hangs from the top 1/4-20s nicely.

Av200 indirect drive brushless upgrade demo

Booma, so will the photohigher version come with an Alexmos? It's hard to tell on their site.

70Amps 3 axis Alex Mos controller and DSLR gimbal

Does this controller have options to run two motors on one axis? The gimbal you are advertising has two motors on tilt. I am assuming that you are using one controller only? Curious to see your Epic gimbal

70Amps 3 axis Alex Mos controller and DSLR gimbal

Very interesting. 70amps seems like overkill though? I mean, most of us aren't even close to drawing that on a per motor basis on our multirotor! Will you be selling those motors separately for those of us experimenting with our own designs?

U11 Tiger Motor 10kg/22lbs of Thrust

Do you have any thrust vs watts curves that you can share? Even a few points would be nice. Those are the 29" props, correct? What alexa are you designing the gimbal for? The XT is 20lbs with lens and very long. The M is a bit nicer but you still have the big module on a umbilical.

Blackmagic Pocket cinema camera in the air

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but what lenses are you using with the BMPCC? That seems to me to be the main "issue" because of the crop factor. Though with a metabones speedbooster, you are approaching the GH3 crop factor. The footage out of this thing is gorgeous though

    TBS Discovery Pro

I can attest that even with "just" 4x 3515 and 13" props the disco with our early prototype mounts was by far the fastest multirotor I have ever flown. And it was smooth as heck.

Brushless conversion for av series gimbals?

I am with Steve (obviously :)) on this one. Reduction has a lot of advantages, and the Alexmos definitely works with it. All of the gimbals I use have it. Our three axis we are releasing shortly with have yaw and roll reduction. You do lose a bit of reaction speed, but it's not much and...

To stabilise or not to stabilise... THAT is the question

I generally turn the pan stab off on the GH3. It makes for jerky pans. IOS will get you jello more easily if your rig isn't dialed.

A budget-friendly alternative to RED Epic & Co......?

really interesting. Looks closer to the black magic to me looking at the specs. Good find

Highlights from a summer shoot at Dewees Island

Really beautiful, Ben. Few questions for ya :) 1) Do you use the 24p, slow speed mode? I like this on the GH3 rather than the 60p method for two reasons. First is it's slowed to 40% (60fps slowed to 24p) in the file itself. Second, you can use the 72mbps ALL I codec vs. the 50mbps 60p one...

    AV200 + brushless

Same here. just tested our big 3-axis one in the desert (15mph winds + gusts) and it's solid. Just need to work some isolation issues and I think that the AV200 is going in the attic

    AV200 + brushless

Reduction drive is really no problem at least with Alexmos. You lose a bit of reaction speed, but the holding torque you gain is a huge benefit. Both of my brushless gimbals have reduction on roll, where the real benefit is, and direct on tilt. I am also testing a reduction with a large 5208...

    Brushless Gimbal for GH3

I am this guy! haha Like Steve said, I work with a guy on these. He has a machine shop and is probably one of the best gimbal designers out there. Should get our massive 3 axis one up in running a few days. The key is reduction. Belt drive on roll makes everything better IMO...

    Foldable and/or Backpack Rigs!

I can attest to Steve's disco.. crazy fast and smoothest I have seen. Hands down is smooth than mine with 9" props and smaller motors. Though you get about half the endurance. As for backpackable, disco works nicely for me. Just did a trip with one. Itching to get a backpackable rig with...
