    Phobotic Centerpiece finally released

Agreed, although including the printer run time and post print handling you still don't come close to that amount. I have three printers that I run 8 - 10 hours a day producing parts for clients so I'm well aware of the costs and what a realistic price should be so you aren't giving away your...

    Phobotic Centerpiece finally released

These will be better and less expensive. The TP cases are 3D printed and I know quite well what they cost to produce at least for me on my equipment, $45 for both is about 100x the cost of materials that goes into making them! What I'm currently printing will be standard ABS colored filament...

    Phobotic Centerpiece finally released

In order to do a comprehensive comparison yesterday I did a couple quick test flights with my Droidworx/Nex5/Alexmos controller/Gotheli gimbal to establish a baseline. Used both the 16mm wide angle lens and the kit 18 - 55, each for one flight. Looking at the video afterward I was a bit...

New Pricing announced on Freefly Movi gimbals

Same thing the early adopters of the DJI gimbals as well as frames experienced, pay a high $ price to be one of the first to have the tech, then watch the price drop dramatically within the next 6 to 12 months. In the case of DJI the Alexmos brushless gimbal controller certainly had a hand in...

    Phobotic Centerpiece finally released

Just handed to me by the FedEx driver... Now to pull the Droidworx/MK hex off the shelf and swap out the old first generation Alexmos controller on the Nex5 gimbal for this one. If all goes well I might have it in the air later today, depends on how busy I get with paying work in...

A2 FC Firmware 2.3 - Here We ALL go Again

Finally back home from a week down south in Nashville and trying to catch up on various things. I've got a complete bare F550 frame sitting on the bench that I used to develop a folding arm kit with, now that I'm pretty much done using it for R & D work I think I'll set it up with the stock DJI...

2014 - best ESC at the moment?

That is true now but the older V1 versions are ZTW hardware and software. I've had Maytech V1 30 A, HK Blue, and a ZTW all side by side and unwrapped on the bench, there is no difference at all in the hardware of the older versions. Also all three use the same programming card which they could...

A2 FC Firmware 2.3 - Here We ALL go Again

I have an A2 sitting in its box on the shelf, given to me by someone I know with the statement that he prefers the WKM and that the A2 was never flown, only hooked to a computer for basic setup. Now I have to wonder if he decided not to use it because of all the negative experiences people have...

    Advanced @User; Tagging

Unfortunately I seldom monitor the email account that the email would have gone to so I never saw it! That account gets a notification whenever a post is made to every thread I've ever posted in and the volume of incoming mail is a bit overwhelming so I pretty much ignore it except for the...

How beat up is too much?

Anytime a prop loses material at the tip it's time to turn it into a paint stirrer unless you want to spend the time and effort to cut it down to a smaller size then rebalance which probably isn't worth the effort unless you have at least 3 others to cut down to match... Ken

    TBS Discovery Pro

Try different brands/types of props. I found that switching from 12 x 3.8 slow flyer props to 12 x 4.5 M/R props makes a big difference in how it flys and responds. Too much pitch and you will never find settings to make it fly smooth, too little and the low KV motors can't spin them fast...

    TBS Discovery Pro

Long arms, big props, low weight, and a DJI controller is the cause, at least in the case of what I've built. On this one the arms and motor mounts are pinned in place and can't be in misalignment, still does the yaw twitch if there's the slightest bit of wind. Only in the calmest conditions...

Wookong M GPS Mode - Fair Warning

Weird things can happen to any piece of hardware that is totally software driven at any time for any number of reasons, not the least of which is bugs in the code and little used subroutines stepping on the same memory locations used by critical pieces of code when they activate at the same...

    Quadrirotor made in 3D printer

My main printer is a modified Solidoodle 3. Not a lot left of the original parts that shipped from the factory, I've upgraded most of the print mechanism as well as the print bed and power supply along with enclosing it all inside a Lexan shell so I can print ABS in a temperature controlled...

Taranis / EZUHF JR Module / IMRC EZUHF RX: any way to get RSSI?

I don't know of any way to get the same RSSI you would use for an OSD back to the Taranis, but the Taranis does check the strength of the signal returned from the D and X series RX and that you can monitor and alert on the TXend. Probably the only way you're going to get RSSI data to the Taranis...

    Best FPV Frame?

QAV500 - had one, flys well but the isolation bobbins between the "clean" and "dirty" sections are fragile to the point I would never pick mine up from the top so as to not stress the bobbins. They work well in compression which is how they're setup on the frame, but put them in tension by...

Mikrokopter Help!!! Hooked Power up Backwards

I would have to look at the schematic for the 1.2 version to be sure but I don't recall them having reverse polarity protection so you may be out of luck. The pop was most likely one of the capacitors, look around for one with blown open top either on the BLs themselves or the flight controller...

Unfortunately none that I'm aware of that come with BLHeli preloaded, only SimonK. Ken

    XAircraft Xaircraft ESC questions

A lot of the Chinese ESCs have stopped using the older Atmel processors and switched over the newer design Silabs chips. BLHeli firmware was first developed to be the "SimonK" alternative for Silabs based ESCs since the code for Atmel won't run on a Silabs chip. Initially the BLHeli was more RC...
