FREEFLY Systems Freefly ALTA, RTF collapsible hexacopter

As much as I like the the DIY approach, I want one of these. The Alta will be an impressive machine.

    The Future of Propeller Technology

Been using KDE's three blade prop adapters for a while - they are awesome. We used them on Insurgent for flying a Red Scarlet around and they worked great. Glad to see that more sizes will be available directly from KDE. They build darn good motors too.

From everything I see, you're killing it in the world of video. You're putting that C100 to use like crazy!

Official ARRI ALEXA Mini Renters' Thread

The Alexa has dominated high-end production. The new Mini will certainly help them continue to do so. Lots of smart features on this camera.

    Been a while...

So it has been a while since I've logged into the forum. It has been for various reasons, but I still love MultiRotorForums! But I've managed to keep up with some friends from the forum via the good ole' fashioned telephone. Yonder Blue Films has been doing more and more traditional...

Hoverfly Hoverfly and KDE motor/esc compatibility (or incompatibility!)

I use the Hoverfly with KDE 3520 motors and Plush ESCs. No issues. Hope that helps.

KDE Direct has added Multi-Rotor Heli motors to their lineup

Been flying the Red a ton with the KDE 3520's and triple props. Low fast shots - it's a blast. These motors are great (paid full price, no paid endorsement here).

The next rig for Yonder Blue Films - "Less Is More"

Quick update... It's been a very busy few months. No time to put into a brand new build at the moment. We've been flying the Red a lot lately, so we upgraded our octo to the KDE 3520 motors with their triple prop adapters. And it handles the Red really well. I'll need to wait until fall...

Ask The Pro.....Ben Rowland of Yonder Blue Films

They are fairly different cameras, but we have mixed the two on productions. The Red has more dynamic range, which is nice to have. The Red requires a much more substantial rig to fly it. It uses a lot of power, both for the copter and the camera, so you need a 3rd crew member to stay on top...

Ask The Pro.....Ben Rowland of Yonder Blue Films

Been working like crazy lately. More answers to come... I'll answer this one quickly. When I say manual mode, I mean WITHOUT self-leveling. It's just the way I learned. Lots of verbal communication between my camera op and I. We use the yaw on the 3 axis gimbal a lot. We've just had a lot...

Ask The Pro.....Ben Rowland of Yonder Blue Films

Every person's "road" is different. But I can share a bit about mine. My first quad was a Blade MQX. It was small enough to fly indoors, but big enough to fly outdoors in a light breeze. I flew that thing like crazy. I bought a bunch of batteries for it and I'd fly it everyday. I burned out...

Depends on what gear it is. Just gotta trust your gut on this one (informed by past experience).

Ask The Pro.....Ben Rowland of Yonder Blue Films

That's a good one... I don't know if I have a top 3, but I can share a few off the top of my head. (These aren't directed at you SMP as I'm sure you've learned these lessons already.) One lesson I've learned over and over is that any changes to the copter or gimbal will take about 3 times...

Ask The Pro.....Ben Rowland of Yonder Blue Films

Time to start answering some of these questions! I'll cover a common one first... camera exposure. The easiest solution to getting good exposure is to shoot a subject that is well lit. When I shoot ground based, this usually means that I bring in some HMI lights to create or add to the...
