S900 Owner's Thread and Mini Build Log

Being new to Multis and aerial filming, what IR camera set-ups are they using for S&R?

    Channels. How many is enough?

So then it shouldn't be a problem using a radio like a Spektrum DX18 or Futaba 18MZ to control a S900/1000 and a DJI 550 (not at the same time of course). The payload for the 900/1000 model hasn't been defined yet, but the additional channels would give me options down the road.

Workbenches? How do you set up your workspace?

As a newb, how are Multi builders setting up their build area or other work benches? What is the biggest concern for building multis?

Radio - Too much for newb?

I am learning about Multis for work and as a total newb to R/C I wanted to ask about radios. I know that I will be using this for more than one multi, both a progression in capabilities with eventually custom functions, and multiple multis as time goes on. Does it then make more sense to buy...

Quad Configuration and Flight Controller Questions

I can't commrnt on the adjacent motots, but the configurations shown are built the same. The difference is which way the copter sees as the front. "X" places the rotors on either side of a forward facing camera and its field of view forming an "X" with the frame arms when facing forward...

    Too much power?

This is the same reason why large powerful engines are no longer used in super high performance racing and hypercars. It makes sense once you can get your head around what is happening in the motions of the multicopter. Sent from my phone using pixie dust and magic unicorn farts.

    Too much power?

So if I am understanding what you are saying Kloner, a Multi with an approximately 30% of throttle hover in full flight trim is bad because of the low center of gravity in effect making it top heavy like a weeble. This is because the wind acting on the "platform" that is the copter area...

    Too much power?

Is that because of the potentially better/more costly components to gain the P:W?, the potentially higher speeds upon impact? It seems like with less mass, the structure would be more likely to take a hit and survive.

    Newb from Phoenix

I am wanting to learn about multirotors for work. I looked around and really didn't find all that much information other than sales sites, and part dealers (all selling the same parts). This seems to be the most active multirotor forum I could find. I plan on paperbuilding multi before I...

    Too much power?

As a newb to this hobby, this arrangement is in the same vein of what I was trying to plan in my head. I am thinking of "future proofing". By building for more lift than necessary, I allow myself the ability to modularize/modify the payload. Maybe it's counterintuitive with multirotors, but...
