FREEFLY Systems Freefly ALTA, RTF collapsible hexacopter

Yeah, screw that if they are letting you fly the gh4. We only get real money when we fly red/alexa etc. Most of our clients here don't even consider gh4 or dslr as an option (we own a red though). I was really surprised when I saw team 5 down there flying the gh4 for season 1 of narcos. I'm even...

FREEFLY Systems Freefly ALTA, RTF collapsible hexacopter

more stable, heavier payloads, flexible lens and cam options, more durable, less flex, etc If you only fly a gh4 with 12mm olympus then stick with the cheap option though if that's working for you. Most of our rigs are custom builds because we can't find anything on the market to fit our...

FREEFLY Systems Freefly ALTA, RTF collapsible hexacopter

Well, Alta is dramatically better than s900 imo. We have an s900 frame collecting dust at our office. We have several x8's and flat octos. All custom builds

FREEFLY Systems Freefly ALTA, RTF collapsible hexacopter

Our Alta is still holding up. We refuse to carry our red or the Alexa mini with it because of the redundancy issue, but we've found it to be a great dslr platform. Our x8's still do the heavy lifting but the Alta handles well in various environments at 28lbs auw. We've been in all sorts of...

    Red Raven.

1.8x crop sensor. We would have bought one for our lower-end clients if this wasn't the case. Ridiculous crop, almost as bad as the blackmagic cams.

Just like Steve said above. It's basically the same compared to the one A2 we have (and the several WKM and superx too). Only difference is its turn-key ready to go perfect instead of building and tuning perfect. We've still needed to tweak the gains just like on any other flight controller...

    FREEFLY Systems Freefly MIMIC

Doesn't really matter I guess, but figured I'd mention that several hobbyists came up with the concept mimic is based on well before anyone ever heard of "Beeworks". Several European guys did it more than a year ago at least. I don't have the links handy but this is nothing new at all. Once...

FREEFLY Systems Freefly ALTA, RTF collapsible hexacopter

We've been flying the aero gear with a 13lb payload with no trouble. It's a little more "wobbly" than the regular MR gear but it's been good so far. Anything to help with the wind loading issue! We have fought wind loading ever since we gave up retracts last year (gave up retracts because of...

    Shotover U1

I've been dying to hear more about this since they began promoting it last month. It's supposed to be released this December. We're already budgeting for it. Good night movi

FREEFLY Systems Alta #1 picked up by MRF own Steve Maller

We know it will carry a cine cam. Theres just no reason to use it over our x8's for that payload. We feel there's obviously more redundancy with octos. I also personally don't like collapsible arms or folding props either. The fewer possible points of failure the better imo. Don't get me...

Haha. It's not nearly as rosy as most people think. Just as challenging and stressful and any other job. Does have perks obviously, but it's far from easy. Definitely more fun flying my minis and single rotors on my own time.

FREEFLY Systems Alta #1 picked up by MRF own Steve Maller

Background is I'm a big rc nerd. I'm a pilot for a biggish aerial cine and inspection company. Mainly tv commercials and stuff like that. I've never operated a camera in my life. I just fly--for work and as a hobbyist when I'm off.

FREEFLY Systems Alta #1 picked up by MRF own Steve Maller

We finally received ours. Been through various tests and it seems solid. Still very concerned about it only being a hexa, so we'll probably only use it for dslr's for the foreseeable future. It's also great for travel so it will come along as our backup on out of town jobs. The additional...

    Airborne Mechatronics - Heavylift KX-8

I see some interesting features here, but $3600 for a frame only????? I'd buy one for testing right now if it was $1500-2000. $3600 is so far out there that it's not even worth testing. So many good options from US custom builders at half the price. Too bad because I would like to mess with...

New Release: Connex HD Video Downlink 3000FT $1599.

Really curious about your thoughts on the Connex versus the Tomahawk with array. We've had a tomahawk and array for about a year and it's been absolutely solid. We love it and our clients love it. But if connex gets us the same perfromance, I'd love to sell our Tomahawk, put the excess capital...

    Wookong V2 IMU

Anyone know where I can buy one of these v2 imu's? I just had a Wookong sent over from getfpv and it included the v1 IMU. I've talked to several dealers and most of them don't even know anything about the v2. I need one, please help!

    How to spend $5000 wisely

Unnecessary, maybe, but I put osd's in all our rigs for one simple reason: in case I get disoriented at long distance. A home indicator has saved me on multiple shoots when I'm out farther than I can see. Can't hurt to have one wired in. Batt/flight time is monitored separately.
