    Diving Copter...ideal rig for kloner

Not having watched the full video (because I'm at work...) how do you mount the battery?

    Diving Copter...ideal rig for kloner

Awesome! I love it! Just what I've been looking for. Thanks guys! I have lots of opportunity to fly over water, and would like the peace of mind. My current quad has already been in the lake once. Heck, even if it wasn't waterproof, I think it's a great frame design!

    S800 alternative props

I wonder if it is as you say, one motor slowing/stopping, and then the rest is just an avalanche from there. We looked at this closely because we saw that hexas flipped really badly when a motor failed, even though the theory is that they should be able to sort of fly. The problem is a...

    FAA where are we today

Hey Stormtech, your story makes me think you must work in the automotive industry. Company changes hands ever 4 years, retirement is cut, getting fired and hired back at half your pay.... yup, been there, done that. I had a buddy that worked as an engineer at Ford for 20 years. He had a nice...

    Turnigy 9X - What's the REAL story?

Oh, I agree. There is no justification for the prices that Futaba charges. Their "affordable" models are just as cheap as the 9X, but still cost 2-3X as much. And the price for a good one is just insane.

Found My Distro Board Finally... Powerhungrysystems.com

Meh. I simply used two 5/8" ID pure copper washers, and soldered the leads right to it. Simple. The only problem is it takes a LOT of heat to solder things to it. You need a 200+W soldering gun and some skill. The washers were only a couple bucks, and I guarantee will take more amps than...

    Turnigy 9X - What's the REAL story?

I am not a fan of the 9X, I think it's just a bit too cheap. Unfortunately there's a hole in the market for a nice affordable mid-range radio. FrSky is actually working on their own line of transmitters. If they are as good as the rest of their stuff, they should be a good buy. My opinion...

1/4" braided wire shield, group buy

What systems are you guys flying? What type of GPS chip? Where is the Magnetometer located? I'll tell you, we've been ALLL over this on DIYDrones. Been up and down the block many times. End of the day only 2 things seem to really work: Reducing the creation of the field in the first place...

    Flying Skills and more

Now, here is a vote in favour of these automatic systems. I was flying some automatic waypoint missions on the weekend, tuning the system to work on the heli. I had fixed the problem where it was pitching too much, but now had substituted that for not pitching enough to fly the mission. It...

coming to a cop car near you

That's exactly what I forsee as well. It's not going to work, at least not as the technology stands now. That is the second facility. The first is in California. I think they're building a third?

    Legal Video Transmitters Canada...

I've bought from NG Hobbies a few times. Solid shop. Good service. I ordered 12 props for an Octo, tested 2 and decided they weren't going to work, he let me return the other 10 unopened and I bought 12 of another type. Good guy. Also, I've heard that you could legally use any Wireless IP...

    Flying Skills and more

I agree with fly a pack just to regain your skills before doing anything else complicated. I think it saved my heli on the weekend. First, I flew out a whole pack in manual (well, Stabilize), and then I moved on to my first attempts at flying a waypoint mission with the heli. I had had...

    S800 alternative props

Sorry, I guess yeah, all I see are the complaints. Looks like you have nailed the design problem. The truss design was chosen for ease of manufacturing, not performance. It needs reinforcement of the top and bottom skin. I think something similar could be achieved by simply bonding a thin...

Man, the airframe design on that thing is SOOOOO bad.

New Turnigy Fast Response Multirotor ESC`s

Yep, my F-40A have switching BEC's, and I ran two of them in parallel while doing some bench testing. One of the BEC's failed within about 5 minutes and is now outputting 12V, which fried my servo tester too. :( I actually strongly prefer a linear BEC in this application, powering the flight...

New Turnigy Fast Response Multirotor ESC`s

Yes, I went with the F-40A, seems to one of the best. Cheap, all-N-fet, Atmel, pads in a row, external oscillator. And I finally figured out how to flash them last night. Whew, that was tricky. Information overload, analysis paralysis, and then finally enlightenment, and now it's pretty easy.

New Turnigy Fast Response Multirotor ESC`s

Some forums make it so that it won't say you are banned. Ask me how I know. ;) They do it when they want to ban people when it's highly political and they don't want to appear to have banned anyway. Then there's always the "tacky goes to coventry" mod, wherein the user is not banned, but they...

New Turnigy Fast Response Multirotor ESC`s

I saw these this morning. Initially interested, but much less so now. It does seem like more of the same ole same ole. It's an airplane ESC with, at best, a bit faster response, but not not SimonK. They are probably better than an out of the box Plush, but not by much, and it's a huge miss...

    S800 alternative props

Yes, for sure, there's a level of information overload. The automatic features bring a lot of benefits, but they actually increased the complexity a great amount. For sure, the existing RC transmitters aren't helping matters. Again, just the other day, I was trying to change modes, but it...
