APM 3.5 Mini Tricopter no tail servo movement

I have never heard of any problems with tricopters and APM, such as OtherHand. I really think you've got to be missing something still. I'm curious to hear if just taking one of the ESC signals moves the servo. If not, see if the servo works at all from your receiver. I am assuming now when you...

APM 3.5 Mini Tricopter no tail servo movement

I really doubt your RC_7 is messed up. If you see the yaw channel moving in RC Calibration screen and you are plugged into channel 7 on the APM you should be good there. Fun! Yeah, ours is a Flitetest Electrohub frame with SunnySky 980kv's and 9" APC props; the kids wrote their names on each of...

APM 3.5 Mini Tricopter no tail servo movement

looks neat! Yes, don't give up. Why don't you just try putting the servo on one of the motor outputs (1, 2, or 4) to see if it moves when you throttle up or do an APM motor test? It should move. Believe it or not I am flying my tri on stock settings, it's been far too windy to get a good...

What hdmi to composite converter for your gh4?

I really doubt it, I am sure there is polarity protection on there. Did you notice a change since you did that?

What hdmi to composite converter for your gh4?

I messed with it some more just now. It didn't matter when I turned off the camera. I turned it off, turned it back on, changed the system frequency, off, back on, etc. and it behaved just like a separate monitor for the camera. Worked perfectly. What is yours doing? As for color rendition, I...

Hexacrafter X8 - Finished and Ready for Service!

cool - thanks. Seems like a great way to go when the ESC's are not immediately cooled by prop wash. Cheers!

Hexacrafter X8 - Finished and Ready for Service!

Looks very nice. Did you use an off the shelf heat sink and the usual thermal paste? Remove shrink from the ESC's? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Why coax?

haha! well, for the record I did that too. And I'm having a blast although it may look like "failure" to some, it's all a smokescreen for progress :)

    Why coax?

yes. that is great advice. Whatever we decide on, I have nothing to gain by trying to 'innovate' in the platform itself, others are already doing a great job of that. What we need is a proven platform upon which to build a unique solution.

    Why coax?

Thanks @Hexacrafter , the common thread, I think, is dimensional efficiency since a larger prop can fit on a smaller airframe. So you end up with something that is more portable per load potential. But that explains why flat hex and octo are still prevalent. Maybe the next evolution will be...

    Why coax?

You will laugh, but I haul my hex in the back seat of the Golf; he gets a seatbelt and everything!

APM 3.5 Mini Tricopter no tail servo movement

Those ESC's have BEC circuits onboard so one of them is perfectly well suited to powering your servo. Pull out just the red wire from two of the ESC servo plugs that go into your APM, but leave one of them. This will supply 5V to your APM servo rail. Then, simply plug your servo into ch7 on the...

APM 3.5 Mini Tricopter no tail servo movement

Ok then I would just start the vehicle wizard again so you have fresh firmware, rc calibration, etc. then see where we stand. I can share info from my setup too if you need to compare APM configs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

APM 3.5 Mini Tricopter no tail servo movement

Btw yes, tricopters are awesome! What are you using for your yaw tilt mechanism? What ESC's? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

APM 3.5 Mini Tricopter no tail servo movement

Wait, if you have the servo on ch7 on your receiver that may be your issue. You want it plugged into ch7 on the APM! Same place as the ESC's since to the APM it's just another one of the signals it's using to control the copter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How to get telemetry data mixed with HD video

are they specifically saying this would be tied to dji osd? I haven't looked at their protocol, is there some reason it could not also be used for other telemetry/osd setups? It would be unfortunate for telemetry in the video feed to depend on a specific proprietary flight controller stack.

    Why coax?

are you suggesting it is better than a flat layout? if so, in what way? and what ratio do you suggest for upper/lower prop? Cheers.

One prop, two chunks of GPS mast so far!

Posted here on the APM log review forum. I will report back if it leads to any new info. IMO incomplete docs, etc. are typical when it comes to mixed sponsored/open source projects. You will find that with any software/hardware development environment too, even in the commercial realm...

APM 3.5 Mini Tricopter no tail servo movement

No need to specifically choose tricopter (assuming you installed tricopter firmware in the vehicle wizard initially), just make sure in the frame type you have chosen the "X" family as opposed to the "+" since "X" includes tricopters. Keep in mind that it will not move the servo unless the...
