    10kg Heavy lifter

14x10 props? Theory says a definite "NO" on that - pitch ratio greater than 50% (i.e. 14x7) will result in blade stall at hover.

    Aluminium tube thickness.

The UK is so screwed up with this "semi-metrication" - 1/2" tubing with 1.6mm wall thickness? They put gasoline in their cars in litres then measure consumption in miles per gallon. Interesting aluminium profile supplier -...

    Polarized Lens

A polarizing filter is not terribly useful on an ultra-wide lens like that of the GoPro (or anything more than about 24mm on a full-frame SLR) since the degree of polarization in the light varies so much within the lens' angle of view that you end up with an uneven "darkening" effect across the...

    What a stupid 4rse!

Ouch! Well, it could have been worse, right? - I mean, only three props broken - that's good, isn't it?

Yep - and I like the way it's described in the video... "a German-made toy" ;)

Flight times, temperatures and all that

When the cables get hot, does the PDB get hot too? I note from an earlier post that your current draw at hover was 66.7 amps, which agrees (more or less) with the eCalc theoretical figures and, as a figure, shouldn't be producing such temperatures. I'm thinking that something else is wrong here...

Flight times, temperatures and all that

You want to change the "charge state" on the battery line to "full". I'm not entirely sure, but I believe that "normal" and "low" exist only to show you how long you'd fly for if you started with partially discharged batteries - odd, therefore, to default to "normal". Anyway - it makes quite a...

Flight times, temperatures and all that

Sorry to persist, but I'd still use eCalc as a reference point in order to establish deviation (in consumption, time, temperature, etc.) from the theoretical ideal and, subsequently, the relative success of corrective actions. :)

Flight times, temperatures and all that

Cables too hot to touch is a definite problem that you should change immediately. They are obviously not heavy enough for the job - change up one or two "gauges" on the AWG scale - 6 x2814 should require at least 10AWG from pack to distribution point - make them as short as possible (and twist...

    10kg Heavy lifter

eCalc is your friend. Moving to 5S is not an automatic gain. Everything obviously needs to work together - can the motors take that voltage? can the props take the higher speed? etc. Measure or calculate the weight of your craft including camera and gimbal but excluding motors, ESCs and...

Mikrokopter Full throttle before lift off

"She" is beautiful, isn't she? Seven foot in the air, with her slender legs spread so wide like that - what a sight that must have been! Photos?

And my knees go weak again - the new Droidworx airframe

Err... why not? China is just as capable of making quality goods as any other manufacturing nation. This "China = low quality" thing is very boring - "HobbyKing" is not "China" :)

Tau Labs OP CC for camera mount stabilization

That was an unfortunate episode/situation, best forgotten. Dankers is frazzled, for sure - who wouldn't be in his situation? You obviously have a great deal of valuable experience and I hope you'll continue to share it here, on the OP forums, wherever. I'm still looking forward to the next...

NEW DroidWorx EMC Series of folding frames

Personally I think it's more "show" than "go". The "tube" shape into which it folds is not especially compact/space-efficient/easy-to-pack. You still need to stow the gimbal somewhere, plus your batteries, Tx, etc. So whilst it's an admirably clever mechanism, I don't think it will be worth...
