Thoughts, Opinions on upgrading to a decent DSLR platform

Ronan's suggestion is a good and cost effective option. Certainly keep you way under 10k. For the mountains, I'd also consider an x8. I've never had a hex, but I've read enough to think that redundancy is not always a given, although I don't have any idea what the key to success is there...

The new F1 Gimbal (Air Studio/Phobotic) for GH4 sized cameras

1000 grams or less is impressive. Might temp me depending on price. I think my gh4 /5d setup is around 1700g. I'm using oversized motors, so that's part of my weight, but even with 5208's, it wouldn't be anywhere near 1000g...... Is the default going to come with 1 or 2 imu setup?

The new F1 Gimbal (Air Studio/Phobotic) for GH4 sized cameras

If we get the horizon figured out on my gh4 setup, I can't imagine wanting anything better than my setup, unless I found one that was significantly lighter and tool-less adjustments for quicker conversions. It looks very cool. One of my previous gimbals was smaller and more compact, and I...

    New 4k Lumix camera released

I agree, but the reduction in the weight would make this great for a mid to small 3 axis gimbal and be very flyable on a heavy lift quad or for some extra minutes on a bigger MR.... Maybe the hack community will figure it out.. Long shot, but a slim possibility....

    New 4k Lumix camera released

That wouldn't be so good. Since it has same processor as GH4, I'd be a little disappointed if it couldn't give ntsc or hdmi while recording. If it doesn't, big mistake, IMO, on their part.

    New 4k Lumix camera released

Kloner, does this imply that you shot this on the LX100? Do you get a little nervous flying near all those panels? I'm guessing they are not cheap. If so, what are your impressions? I'm guessing if the quality is pretty good coupled with the weight of under 400g, this will be a great aerial...

    S900 complete shopping list?

My main comment would be to think through the gimbal part. From what I read on line, there are many that are happy with the gimbal from DJI. However, there is also many that talk about the pros and cons of buying a gimbal that only fits one camera. I'm a camera guy and change camera's...

    XAircraft Newest from XAircraft

With winter coming in and having taken my Super X off my x8 and onto a quad, this may be a good time to take it off and sell it. Pretty disheartening to think they aren't adding any more features. It may work as advertised for most (it does on my quad) but I never got it totally satisfactory...

3d Priinting help for bearing shaft

Thanks, I've come to the same conclusion. So much out their on 3d printing when I saw they were doing stainless, I thought I'd ask. Then somewhere I read about the tolerances and had a gut feeling they were no where good enough. Always try to buy good bearings, but I have so many gadgets, I...

    advice for flying a ghost

I didn't have enough time to go all out, but pretty happy with my few hours of work. Wife did here first attemp at filming a flying object, so it's a not the best, but it works... Thought I might have some fun handing out candy with the guy flying around, but it's misting now with rain forecast...

Show what you filmed - Post Your Video Here

My afternoon project yesterday. Wife's 1st attempt at filming a flying object. More training... Not necessarily anything professional about this, but had a fun time getting it flying. Hopefully find time for a little more lighting on bottom of the ghost.

    advice for flying a ghost

It sounds like you put the sheet over the mr? I was thinking more of towing or letting it hang down 10, 20, 30 or more feet. Hadn't thought of making hte MR body the head and letting the rest just hang down. If I did that, I'd probably do it on a 650 quad. I wanted to have a lit round...

    advice for flying a ghost

I'm thinking of make taking a round lit object with a lcd light in it, wrapping a white sheet around it, paint some eyes and mouth on it, tie the sheet around the bottom of the ball and then fly it for a little Halloween fun. Kind of a floating ghost. I'm also thinking of hanging it off of...

    Phobotic Centerpiece Brushless Gimbal Controller

Quick update on my experience with my CP. Past weekend, kept the store bought gimbal's 3rd axis on, but put my 2 axis DIY gimbal on for 1/2 dozen flights. Auto tune was fine (except my roll hit the stops and I had to move it but I've been told it's ok to move, turn, or rotate the gimbal...

3d Priinting help for bearing shaft

I was sort of wondering about the tolerances. Reading about it, I didn't get a warm fuzzy on the strength. I was wondering if the tolerances would be good enough to fit the ID of a bearing. Any idea what something like this might cost to get a couple made? Like 2-4. Thanks for the input.
