    HELP from somerset, uk

Alex, That must be frustrating. post up a photo of it. Did you follow the instructions to the letter? Sounds like either some props are on the wrong motors or one or more of your motors is connected wrong. Or you have the motors wired up the GU344 wrong. Have you set the gain quite high? Its...

    Copter choice help

Unless you are experienced with RC Aircraft you might want to first get some low cost basic gear for some 'AB Initio training' so to speak. Granted, with the stabilizers and autopilots available just now, you can operate one with little or no experience. However with developing legislation...

    AV 200 servo upgrade

Darn, wish I'd spotted this thread before I chose to buy a savox SC1258 to upgrade my XA mount, ah well, see how it goes. What's the deal with external potentiometers and pot meters etc?

    PC MultirotorTrainer/simulator

As Egon says, Aerosimrc. lacks in the graphics department but the physics are good with a good range of types. very accurate IMHO. Its also designed for developer so theres a lot of user defined options. Steve

XAircraft What should I set at beginning of X650?

Eric, you should be able to just select your style in XA Centre, if I remember rightly. If you read through the threads you will see that many have had issues with the X650 drifting in various directions. Important is to make sure the thing is absolutely level when you calibrate the AHRS. Make...

Does your Multi Rotor pay its way?

This supports my suspicion that the CAA requirements do not quite match what is being presented in official fashion from the BNUC provider. The CAA just ask for a BNUC-S, (fixed wing or rotary depending on your ops I assume). Its the BNUC provider that then goes on to say it is system specific...

XAircraft XAircraft Camera Mounts !!! In-Stock !!! XAircraft USA

Cheers for that CBob, I adjusted my refresh from 20 to 5ms, I'll try 2ms, didnt think the XA servos's would handle 500Hz I've ordered a 12 bit 0,08ms savox 1258TG servo for the roll axis. Hopefully see an improvement, I'll post the results up here. Steve

XAircraft XAircraft Camera Mounts !!! In-Stock !!! XAircraft USA

Nice steadiness in the mount, much smoother than I can achieve, my video is very jittery. Are you using the stock G50 & G20 servos? What are your gimbal gain and refresh settings in XA centre?

    Sony NEX-5

Continuing a little off topic, sorry. A question to the more experienced videographers. Is this a fair comparison of the TM900 and 550D? In my eyes the DSLR beats the panasonic. but I have seen better footage than that comparison, from the TM900.

Helicopter versus Multirotor for Aerial Photography

Thakur, I think the same skills are required for both in whatever mode of flight you choose to fly in. Although multi's are perhaps a little more forgiving. Steve

Advice for getting started with multi-rotor helicopters

I would agree with KellyR the DJI Naza strikes me as by far the best value (non open source) FC on the market. Whether or not it is wise to start out with a FC that has Alt hold, I'm not sure. What I like about the X650 series is the frame and the rail mounting system, for battery and camera...

Can soneone explain "gain" to me.

Jack, The gain is basically the amount of controlling signal coming out of the FC.Too high causes overcorrection much like manual overcorrection an aircraft will oscillate about until you stop overcorrecting, so the craft will oscillate about the datum as you know, and likewise too low at it...

Hi speed His res servo for XA gopro mount?

Looking to upgrade the stock servo on my XA mount, looking at a Savox SC 1258TG http://www.wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/17099/. It has titanium gear, is this advantagous for a gimbal servo or would I get backlash on it, would plastic gear be better. The stock servo isnt suitable for AV so I need a...

    Favourite Camera Mount/Gimbal?

I often wonder how much a gimbals performance really depends on sense and response ie FC and servos, I would have thought you could get a cheap mount to perform well if it senses and responds quickly and precisely provided it doesnt have inherent slack or stiction. I am going to fit some better...

    Camera stabilization too slow

I also have this problem, I plan to use a high resolution high speed servo. I have increased the servo update rate in my XA software from default 50Hz to 200Hz, it made a little difference, but still not acceptable for AV. what are you using, Naza or Wookong? I dont think you can update the...

    transitional lift

yeah translational lift definitely occurs in multirotors, its just another form of fixed pitched heli, I find if I'm struggling for lift in the hover a bit of forward cyclic always gets it up or a stiff breeze. Have you noticed how a gust of wind causes your machine to increase height without...

    Thrashing the Naza F450

Looks like you had fun Ken, I had a similar day though the weather not so good. a brief respite from the winds today so got the F450/Naza out for a proper hack about in the field behind my house. I was left at home with my 3 yr old son while the wife and daughter went shopping. he's pretty bored...

    Droiders WMK F460 frame build

Dave, I fitted this extended mount, serves 2 purposes, can shoot more horizontal without getting the booms in the shot and also offers a nice handle for launch and recovery.
