F550 What wieght are you flying with

I picked up a set of those RC Timer arms for my 550. They aren't the same height as stock arms, so you will lose a little bit of room inside your frame. I've already extended my arms with a set of carbon fiber extension plates I designed. They let me run 11x5 props with no problem, but I wanted...

SONY Nex 5N without telecommand if HDMI Video link

This is being discussed Ina couple of threads right now. Try searching for one called "NEX downlink". Lots of info there, but the short answer is that it's caused by the auto-focus. Switch to manual and it should work fine. Some other folks claim to have success with auto if you set the camera...

Some of my first AP shots

Try moving your camera a little more towards the center if the craft. It's sitting right in the prop wash, so it's really easy to get blurred shots that way. Its the same as someone constantly pushing or tapping on the camera while you are in the air.

Why bother listening to the FAA?

I try to be a good guy and follow the rules laid out in front of me. From many of the threads that are on this board here, as well as others I've seen, it's obvious that the FAA has laid out a "no commercial" flights rule for our aircraft. There seem to be countless discussions about it here...

    Sony Nex-5n - downlink

I saw in another thread that this works... Solution is here: Use mode P, S, A or M and then in autofocus area, select flexible spot!

    Anyone around the Baltimore Area?

Hey guys, I'm starting up a new meetup group called Baltimore Drones. I am a member of a simular group in DC, but it's very hard for myself, and others, to make the drive to DC or northern Virginia. The aim of the group is to bring local multirotor and fixed wing enthusiasts together so that...

    New Foldable Hexacopter

Up is the direction the props are pushing. That would be a horrible idea with the possibility of folding during flight.

    Sony Nex 5n test flight.

You need #39 I think. It does movies and stills. I have it installed right now.

Heavy Lift Hexacopter + 2 Axis Carbon Gimbal

That was a good deal, I must admit. Glad to see you got it sold. -Terry

    RC Timer S800 clone

I haven't got one yet. I'd like to, but my primary focus is on stills at the moment. I'll wait and see what happens this year with direct drive brushless motor gimbals. A few folks have been working on something that I think will change the market some, or at least the super high cost of the DJI...

    RC Timer S800 clone

Aside from the price, the Zenmuse is great. It just seems like the S800 is no good with that gimbal. I've talked with a few folks that got it with plans to use another gimbal, but found tons of vibration issues, mostly high frequency that effects the video output.

    RC Timer S800 clone

9 out of 10 times I would agree with that statement, but judging by how many recalls and accidents there have been with the S800, it seems like they didn't do enough R&D before rushing to market and wasting peoples money. Have you noticed how many S800's there are in the for sale forum lately...

    Simple Brushless Gimbal Controller--FPV MODEL

I have a feeling 2013 is going to be the year we see a lot of changes in gimbal design. Servo gimbals are such a pain in the a$$, and take so much work to get decent results.

Getting F550 Kit dialed in for video

Olof, great job. I couldn't agree more about the flying techniques. I see so many people trying to get the best stabilization on their copter before they even think about how they fly. I'm convinced that good video starts at the controller sticks and moves out from there. When you are talking...

    RC Timer S800 clone

The strange thing though, is that from tests, the "cloned" esc's appear to be better than the originals, from what testers were saying.

    RC Timer S800 clone

I saw a thread on another forum about them. They seem to be the exact same frame with different electronics. The wiring in the arms is also a little lighter in gauge. The funny thing is that they shut down that thread stating copyright issues. Weird.

    My Customised F550 + Crane3

Looks pretty cool. I'm building something very simular right now. What are you using for gimbal stabilization? Are those the 200mm landing gear?

    S 800 flips

Tons o reports about this. Search for "flip of death" on here and you will find a few threads about it. DJI have been replacing the faulty units. I forget the exact cause, but it's outlined in the thread. I think it's the wookong that needs to be replaced.
