FAA Seminar on UAV's - Denver, CO.

Before you waste your time and money have a watch of Jim Williams at the 2014 sUSB conference in San Francisco.

Just lovely, I really enjoyed that. Thanks.

    Pixhawk Feedback?

I've been watching the spline feature with interest. I have to admit that I don't really get it as every pro video I've seen is much smoother. I thought spline was more about smoothing between waypoints rather than smoothing turns per say. Personally, I really like the repeatability aspect of...

    XAircraft SuperX Log Viewer...

I think the technical term is 'poo happens'.

    XAircraft WTF just happened?

222 meters high? What were you doing up there? I'm surprised you could even see it.

    Two Flyaways in a row!!!!!!!!

Well, yes and no. Logs would certainly help to diagnose why it was flying away. As you say, given it doesn't have telemetry you were lucky the second time that a tree stopped it. I hope you figure this out or every time you fly you could be putting people in danger and risking losing your...

    Two Flyaways in a row!!!!!!!!

I don't have any experience with that flight controller so I can't help you out, sorry. It sounds like some of the terminology is a bit different as well. I'm not sure what you mean by safe mode but personally I think that any copter that doesn't provide geofencing and a proven ability to...

    Two Flyaways in a row!!!!!!!!

What flight controller are you using and what mode were you flying in? Over time it seems to me that the general consensus regarding flyways is to suspect either GPS issues or radio interference. So I'd start there. Did you do a range test with your Tx? Have you set up and _tested_ failsafe...

Dropped my Spanky 250 in the dam today!

Terrible news. Hope it's well soon as I should have my little 250 built in about a week which was inspired by yours. They really do need to meet up for a play date.

    Came 7000 3 axis gimbal?

Due to weather and working on another project I haven't had a chance to fly it for almost two weeks now. Very frustrating. However, I did receive a new IMU cable from GotHeli that totally eliminated the issues I was having with noise on the second IMU cable. So I'm looking forward to some good...

    APM 2.6 0n Tarot 680

Yes and no. When the APM successfully arms the props start turning as an indication that arming was successful. You can turn off that behavior but I don't recommend it. It wasn't always like this and I was one of the people really pushing for it for exactly the reasons you bring up. Also, the...

    Hi From Cleveland Brisbane Australia

Since we have gone so far off topic anyway, Tridge just posted an article about the first Arduplane to fly with Linux over at DIYDrones. Take note that he says the next step is to try it with Arducopter. See, I told you it wouldn't be long before a copter would fly with Linux. :-)

    Hi From Cleveland Brisbane Australia

Oh, the poor Bushmaster that was in the mid air at Canberra Model Aircraft Club. Yeah, I take photos for them. It hit the ground at 165kph when a guy doing a loop went through the tail of it. Many months of work down the drain. Quite shocking. But they have a backup being the very clever people...

Belted? I don't have any planes in the air right now. Just multirotors.

    Hi From Cleveland Brisbane Australia

There are long threads here of me going on about not having good experiences with the Pixhawk on a heavy coax Octocopter. Don't let that sway you too much. My point there is just that it's a very fast moving project and in development so I worry about it being ready for 'prime time'. I was...

    Hi From Cleveland Brisbane Australia

A couple of posts down I mentioned that I thought Arducopter/Arduplane would run on Linux. Well, believe it or not, the next day I was asked if I wanted to take photos of the first plane flying with Aruplane running Linux. It was pretty damn cool and we had a lot of fun. I put the photos of...

    Hi From Cleveland Brisbane Australia

I would advise against the clones. It's just not worth it. There was a time when there was a small problem with the APM and they added a small capacitor to fix it. Nothing huge, just took care of some issue I don't remember. But the clones didn't catch up with that and some people had issues...

    Hi From Cleveland Brisbane Australia

How embarrassing, I forgot to mention Michael Obourne in Western Australia who is the author of the fantastic ground station software - Mission Planner. It's just an amazing piece of software and he does updates very quickly to keep up the projects.

    Motors spinning differently when armed

I've had the 'all at once' techniques work a couple of times but more often than not I end up doing them individually. I don't think it has anything to do with the APM but has more to do with the specific ESCs. I think this issue is actually fairly common. Glad you worked it out.

    APM 2.6 0n Tarot 680

The first thing I would try is to disconnect the LEDs on A6 and A7. Those pins don't provide much power at all and are meant more to drive a controller to handle the LEDs. I may be wrong but it won't hurt to disconnect them and see if anything changes.
