    New ServoBlocks-based GoPro mount...

My servo programmer finally showed up, so I was able to finally set the servos to the hires/12-bit mode, and I was able to widen the deadband. Movement now is very smooth, without the "stairstepping" I was getting before. Unfortunately, I've run into a showstopping problem that is going to kill...

    CineStar 6 WKM build

Yes, I'm looking for other "channels" into the manufacturer. I was also looking at trying to get a Hyperion Zs3014 with a kV around 700, but that may or may not happen. The big problem I'm still having is finding an ESC that will even do 5s, other than the Herkules II setup, like yours. -- Gary

    CineStar 6 WKM build

I'd wait until Ken has had a chance to run this ground, so to speak. I think there is a right combo that will still work great for a larger hex or octa setup. My guess is that it will be a lightweight prop in the 11-12" size and spinning maybe a bit faster. My first cut at a setup for my CS6...

    WMK Cinestar 6 & 8 builds

Hi Pascal -- Those Hyperion motors are on my VC-600-X8, and I'm quite happy with them. They have quality bearings and magnets, and are quite efficient. Right now I'm using them with APC 12x3.8 on top and APC 11x4.7 on the bottom motors. This setup weighs a little over 3kG, with two 4s3300 packs...

    CS8 to X8 conversion - Herkules ESC III V3

Hi Boris -- Which motors are you using? I'm looking to do a 6s setup on my new CS6 build. I got the frameset yesterday, so I need to get serious about the rest of the gear. :tennis: -- Gary

I'm definitely tuned in. :) My CS6 package just arrived. :tennis:

    CineStar 6 WKM build

I would think the MC would make up for the lack of lift by spinning them faster, so maybe they are at some sort of limit. Maybe running on 5s would give it a bit more"room"? :) You are right, the fun is just beginning. :) I wish I could send our weather your direction, so you could get some...

    CineStar 6 WKM build

This is not an input anywhere in the Assistant software that I'm aware of, for entering the size of the model. There is a screen for inputting the distances the IMU is mounted offset from the central CG point, but that really has nothing to do with the size of the model. -- Gary

    CineStar 6 WKM build

I'm really looking forward to seeing the results of your prop tests on the CS6 (my frameset arrives today... :) ). I have a theory that the reason some have had problems with wobbling on larger WK-M setups is because many are using larger diameter props, which are going to spin slower for a...

    New ServoBlocks-based GoPro mount...

The video is done. The stabilization didn't do much good, and it has a bit of a quality hit I'm not pleased with, so I'll avoid that in the future. Also, I'm thinking now that most of this jello is due to servo jitter. You can here it in the video. Also, when big movements are commanded, the...

Falling out of the sky problem...

Just when I thought it was safe to back in the water... :nevreness: I just did a test flight this afternoon, mainly as a test of my GoPro mount changes, but also, I wanted to "calibrate" the Voltage Monitoring function. The flight went fairly smooth, and I had no further incidents, but I only...

How to connect the ubec properley with a hexa setup (wkm) and the av200/360

Your radio is on, right? Mine does that sort of behavior when I forget to turn on the transmitter first. :) -- Gary

How to connect the ubec properley with a hexa setup (wkm) and the av200/360

I'm using the CC 10A programmable BEC, and what I did was to make a special Y-adapter, shown below. This takes the two power leads, from the BEC, but not the signal lead. I then took two regular servo Y-cables. One end of these goes to the servo, and one end goes to this special Y-adapter. The...

    New ServoBlocks-based GoPro mount...

Okay, I finally got my act together, in the daylight hours, and managed a quick test flight. :) The mount works quite well. I do see, however, that I have a basic vibration issue, which shows up as a typical "jelly roll" in the video. This is being caused, I'm sure, because after my first...

    CineStar 6 WKM build

I too am right behind you Ken. My CS 6 frameset was shipped yesterday. :) I'm going to try a 6s setup, if I can find the right motors and ESCs. BTW, which ESCs are you using? Also, what props again? What is the MtM distance on this beast? Anyway, yours is looking great. I can't wait to see how...

Falling out of the sky problem...

I'd check and make sure you have solid connections, and that nothing is getting warm. My problem was a mismatch of connectors that caused a lot of resistance, which generated heat. The resistance also caused a voltage sag that ended up causing the motors to draw more current than normal, trying...

    New ServoBlocks-based GoPro mount...

No, sadly, I didn't make it out today. :shame: I got tied up doing some other work and looked up to see that it was getting dark already. I hate that it gets dark so earlyy in the winter, such as it is. Today it was about 75F/24C and sunny all day, but the "day" portion is just too short. :)...

Falling out of the sky problem...

I have mine bolted to the back right corner, and I'm using the longest of the three rods provided. I'm not sure on this particular setup if I can get it any farther away. :) -- Gary

    New ServoBlocks-based GoPro mount...

I've made a few more tweaks, mainly playing with the gains. One thing I did do to the mount itself was double up and use two of the old Raptor CCPM plates I'm using as part of the L-shaped mount off the tilt servo. This makes the camera mounting more rigid, and less susceptible to vibrations...

Looking for people to wiegh in on there gain settings, to help get the max setup.

After adjusting them in the air, with a fair amount of wind, my basic gains are now set to 130%. I have the Attitude gains set at 85%, but I might dial these down a bit more, to get smoother video. I have three conditions set up on my transmitter for expo. The "normal" one is set to 45% and dual...
