I see your point. I was thinking maybe only disconnecting two (opposing) arms so that one dimension is greatly reduced. I think there's a much greater chance that I can find a Pelican case that will handle that. What kind of connectors would you use?

Is there a reason one cannot build an F550 with connectors between the board and arms so that one may disconnect some or all of the arms for transport? Perhaps this is already done but I recall someone saying before that it's not practical.

Great advice, thank you. I'll definitely get a wind meter. At the moment, my real question is whether I can shoot while flying (not just drifting) in the wind with the F450 and F550 and I believe the only way to know is to buy an F550, build it and see.

This has not been my experience, unfortunately, and it's hard to imagine the 450 will be much better as it is only slightly larger. I think the AUW of my Phantom 2 might be greater than a loaded F450 (I have both but have not flown the F450 much). As an aside, it's hard to imagine anything...
