I ended up using an IRC600, iOSD mini and a plug and play cable I bought - no soldering. I haven't tried it yet but also got Fatshark Dominators with Spironet and a patch.

I totally agree. I wish I had met you before I started with these quads that aren't great in wind. Apart from the difficulty in lining up a shot, they shake and yaw. In my limited experience any wind above 3mph is problematic. Have you tried the F550 with a GoPro?

Having used loctite to re-assemble my P2, and then having to replace the entire shell, I have also learned my lesson.
