Hoverfly HoverflyGIMBAL Firmware/Setup Client version 1.6 - Even Newer and More Improved!

No, something changed between v1.3 and this new v1.6 version. My setup has not changed at all. Below is the video from a few days ago, that has v1.3 loaded. You can see that although there's the already discussed "jello" issue and the tilt gains are pretty far off, there's no yaw coupling issue...

Hoverfly HoverflyGIMBAL Firmware/Setup Client version 1.6 - Even Newer and More Improved!

I just loaded in v1.6 and gave it a try with my F550/AG550v2 setup. Unfortunately, the yaw coupling issue is back, both with the pitch axis and the roll axis. I didn't redo the temp calibration, which I'm guessing is the problem. Bummer! :shame: -- Gary

    Anyone tried F550 NEX-5N/7 2-Axis Gimbal....yet?

Actually, it is HoverFly Gimbal. Here is a link. :) We don't have an "official" v2 version of the AG550 just yet, but we've been making incremental changes. The main one is a new set of stiffeners that were added to the adapter plate "wings" that hold the special silicon isolators we use. These...

    Anyone tried F550 NEX-5N/7 2-Axis Gimbal....yet?

Sorry, I really need to spend more time over here. :) I think the only way you can get "zen-like" gimbal performance is by using a separate gimbal controller that is mounted on the isolated side of the gimbal mount. I have tried pretty much everything out there as a standalone gimbal...

DJI prepares for WKM II with Naza GPS upgrade.

From the hints that Sydney has dropped, it appears there will be a change coming, but only for the WKM, that addresses the gimbal output shortcomings, mainly the slow 50-100Hz gimbal output PWM rate and the 90-degree travel limit, but no word on whether they also will fix the GPS-based...

    F550 and Sony NEX7

Sorry about not responding sooner. The gimbal Chris is using, is one of the prototypes of a new 2-axis gimbal that is sized to fit a DJI F550 and has a yoke the is tailored for a Sony NEX-5N/7. I am developing this gimbal with my partner, Andrey Kim (Askman here...). We are close to releasing...

    F550 and Sony Nex5n

I do not agree that you need to change motors on a F550 setup that carries a Sony NEX-5N. What you do need to do, however, is replace the stock 10" props with 10x5 Graupners. My F550 is a beast at 8lb 4.9oz/3766g, with our new TP550-NX 2-axis gimbal, the integrated landing gear, a NEX-5N/16mm...

    F550 and Sony NEX7

Yes, we finally have found the "perfect" servo. :) What I'm using in this video are MKS HV767s in both axis. These are true 12-bit, and have very close to zero deadband. The Hyperions I was using are 11-bit, but you could program out the deadband, so the performance was good. The problem was...

    F550 and Sony NEX7

Here's a short video I did today with my F550 hex, using the same 2-axis gimbal, and a NEX-5N with the 18-55mm "kit" lens. The inset video is from a GoPro that is hard-mounted to the upper F550 late. -- Gary

New DJI F550 hex with 2-axis belt drive gimbal...

Sorry for not keeping this thread updated. I've been busy testing some last minute changes/improvements, and I wanted to thoroughly test them first. Basically, what I've been working on is better vibration isolation. With some help from Chris, at Vortex Aerial, we found that the pool noodles I...

    Max payload for DJI motor

I'm using these just because I already had them. I'd go with a 4s-3300 or a 4s-4000, if you want lighter weight, and a 4s-5000 if you want more endurance. -- Gary

    Max payload for DJI motor

My F450 setup weighs 2035g, and it runs cool as a cucumber on two 4s2600 packs, even after 8-9 minute flights.. I'm using the Graupner 10x5s, but it also ran cool on the 9x5x3 GWS 3-bladed props. Anyway, I think your problem is not the blades, it is that you are using 3s. On 4s, the motors seem...

New DJI F550 hex with 2-axis belt drive gimbal...

Servos should be here Thursday, so I should be able to start shipping Friday. I'm still struggling to get the website finished. :dread: Here's my latest video: I've tweaked the gimbal gains a bit more, and I've installed the "production" version of the landing gear, which is an inch shorter...

    10" graupners on 4's

My F550 hex weighs close to 7 pounds, with two 4s-3300 packs and the Graupner 10x5s, and the motors don't even get warm. :) -- Gary

New DJI F550 hex with 2-axis belt drive gimbal...

I've got the first lot of these now, and will be making them available this coming week, via my website, TPpacks.com, which I'm in the process of rehosting/redoing. I still need to package the major assemblies and mounting hardware into individual kits, and finish the instructions. Also, I'm...

    F330 with a GoPro?

I think we have it sorted. :) I'll try and post more later, after I get Robert's measurements. -- Gary

    F330 with a GoPro?

The F550 is my favorite as well. It is easier to fly and is easier to see. :) What we are looking to do for the F330 is use the vibration isolation scheme off the TP450 and TP550 gimbals, for a GoPro "hard" mount (i.e. -- no gimbal...). The vibration isolation plate will mount to the front...

NAZA and Futaba set-up - help needed

The problem with using a helicopter model is that almost all of the swash types introduce some form of CCPM mixing. This absolutely won't work with the Naza, or any other multirotor FC. I have a 14MZ and what I do is use an Airplane model to start, and use the Throttle Cut function, just like...

    F330 with a GoPro?

The TP450-GP, which is the F450 GoPro gimbal/mount will be $375. This includes the specially programmed servos, and will be mostly assembled. We break it down to major assemblies, for easier shipping. The TP550-GP is the F550 hex version, and it will be $475, the difference mainly being the...

    F330 with a GoPro?

Hi Benjamin -- I'm still in the process of updating my website, but the hope is that it will be ready-to-go in a few days. There are two versions of the GoPro gimbal/mount that will be available, one that is tailored to fit the the F450 quad, mounted on the front in an "inline" fashion, and...
