It will be enough to get started. Flight modes work on channel 5. You don't have to use channel 6. As far as i know, dx6 doesn't have 3 position switch. So you can mix two switches to give you 4 position flight mode select. Arducopter wiki has lots of information on this matter.

When the 3rd axis is added and big cameras are lifted; we can quit doing this job :)

Another note: Accordign to you setup, 6S lipo, 400KV motors and 14x4.7 props will not help you lift Epic. You need to go 15x5.5 props to get more lifting power.
