I've gone about 800 feet out LOS on a clear day and had solid signal. I probably could have gone much further. I haven't really pushed it that hard since I only use it for close range mostly. For most other rigs I use 1280MHz. I started with a bevrc 200mw system and was lucky to get 100 feet!!

Interesting, I guess I'll need an extension. On my goggles, by antenna is also 90°. Think I need to orient it 90° also?

Ryan, Yep. Foam tape is the way to go. I use the same stuff from heli gyros too. There's an acro mode in the flight mode setup drop downs, maybe you have an earlier version o mission planner?

Ryan, diydrones.com is definitely the place to ask. Make sure you go into the Arducopter discussion group. Ask your questions there. Lots of helpful people. In the future I would set up an acro or rate mode so you can rely on just flying by gyro if you get into a sketchy situation like that...
