    s800 spinning fairly fast

the arms were all correct - x to x and o to o, m1 and m2 red....... but the outputs for M3 and M4 were switched. so when I hit "motor test" for m3, m4 spun, and vice versa. :eeeek:

    s800 spinning fairly fast

so far vibrations haven't been an issue for the camera - still experimenting with different positions and haven't made any shots since i put the vibration isolators on. the first version of the mount was much lower and further forward, but when i switched to two batteries i recentered it and...

    s800 spinning fairly fast

i just went through everything on the assistant software again... gains are at the recommended for s800 (haven't switched to the s800+dampening kit setting since i assume that relates to the IMU mount?), RC settings and trims look good, full range of motion and fully centered. BUT ---- i did the...

    s800 spinning fairly fast

i've only taken my s800 out a few times - still in the testing phase for sure. the last couple flights seemed successful and quite stable, especially in ATTI mode. GPS mode doesn't seem quite as good with some TBE. today I added the Bluetooth LED - very handy - and the vibration dampening kit...

    Triggering a camera automatically

does this approach require a switch like this: http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8833 or could you literally just wire the three pins of channel 8 to three pins of the camera's remote, assuming the remote is a simple contact type?

    newbie setup questions

making some progress. properly balancing it and more carefully setting the imu and antennae positions may have been the trick. need some solution to constantly attaching and reattaching the compass. i epoxied both ends of the stalk to the fittings, and have been using tape to stick it on to the...

    Problem posting on multirotorforums.com (java??)

I had this exact same issue yesterday. Windows 7, latest IE. before yesterday, enter wouldn't work. The only way to start a new paragraph was to copy and paste text with a carriage return in it from notepad. works fine on safari iPad, iPhone.

    newbie setup questions

i made some adjustments and thing are much improved. i mounted the second battery and a camera, adjusting the position of the two batteries to compensate for the camera being very slightly off center between the bipod legs. this put the CG right on the center in the x and y axes and about 5cm...

DIY camera mount on skids of S800...

thanks for the feedback everyone. i suppose I'll give it a go. is anyone using camranger for remote camera control (vs the radio downlinks from the camera's video port?) as soon as i'm comfortable that I can lift a bigger camera, I'll give that a try if the "spray and pray" approach isn't...

DIY camera mount on skids of S800...

i plan to use my S800 for aerial stills which will be used (among other things) in architectural visualizations. there is typically heavy editing involved and the opportunity to use very fast shutter speeds so i'm not too worried about vibration and i'm not at all worried about having...

    newbie setup questions

that's what I thought too. obviously something is not right. it is far from being able to hold position and attitude in GPS mode. i didn't try atti or manual this last time. any suggestions!? it looks like the props are spinning at radically different speeds, but that may be an artifact of the...

    newbie setup questions

i doublechecked the gains and for some reason the settings hadn't stuck - they were all at 100. i corrected that, replaced the slightly squishy tape mounting the imu with more rigid tape, and tightened a few other things up in the landing skid. magnetic declination for san francisco is about 14...

    newbie setup questions

thanks for the reply ed! it doesn't seems like it is fully compensating for the off-balance battery - it's tipped down to that side. if it was fully compensating would it be level, or just stable in position? I did read the part in the WKM manual about the toilet bowl effect... but I didn't...

    newbie setup questions

any reason not to use two of the DJI battery trays, one on each side, with two matching batteries connected for balance? it doesn't seem that two 5000mah batteries weigh much more or less than a single 10000mah battery.

    newbie setup questions

got into the air today. realized the stupidity of my question about the power for the PMU. the big obvious cable coming from the base plate marked "PMU" would do it. i decided to fly with just one battery and used a bit of electrical tape in a few places on the skids where I still don't seem to...

    newbie setup questions

i picked up a (cheap, I think) s800, wkm, two li-po batteries, and futaba 8j transmitter to do some aerial photography. not video. i'll be using a custom mount for the camera setup which weight about 2.5lb. I don't need a video downlink, gimbals or servos, etc. i'm not too concerned yet about...
