    Insurance?

Hmm, I have the Hartford for inland marine and workers comp etc, been trying to get them to remove the drone exclusion but they act like it aint possible. Maybe I need a more agressive broker.

    Insurance?

Since my other thread spawled off topic and there are multiple people interested I thought I'd move the question over here: People in the USA, what companies do you use for insurance? Personally I seem to find lots of places that provide liability coverage, but I'm having a harder time finding...

    Problems with too much power?

Obviously I wish I could say that I have... unfortunately I trusted a guy who was blowing a lot of smoke. So all I have are tears and lots of carbon fiber embedded under my fingers. Lesson learned - do it yourself!

    Problems with too much power?

I suspect this is one of the the reasons there's a lot of technical help on the boards, but people tend to clam up once you try to talk the nuts and bolts of the "business" side of things (At least in the US). Or it could just be that this thread went way off topic...

    Drone Drones

Honestly, the media is one thing, but the only context I ever hear the word "drone" in person is either: "I'd like to hire your drone for a shoot" or "You fly drones? That's so cool!" I think the nefarious military context is fading away...

    Drone Drones

I hate that word. I prefer to call mine "Autonomous-terrorist-privacy-invasion-robots"

    Problems with too much power?

Well since you guys chimed in I guess I'll just keep things OT here... Anyone (in the US) got any links to good providers? So far the people I've reached out to (Costello, Aerialpak) provide UAV liability, but NO coverage of hull or payload? I know it's gonna cost a pretty penny, but so far I...

    Problems with too much power?

Not without insurance... Which leads me to my next big question... which I probably definitely should start a separate thread for.

    Problems with too much power?

Hey Andrew, no need for the sales pitch, Sleepy and Pumpkin and Scott have all done it for you ;) I've actually had the HQ-850L with U7-490 on my spreadsheet for a while... or would you say that frame is too small for that potential weight? I wish I could do the m5/m10 combo... but more likely...

    Problems with too much power?

I was thinking of going straight to U7s on an X8 - Trying to drop the money bomb at the beginning and put together the best system I can rather than a slow trickle of upgrades. But everything's still undecided. Kinda just wish I had the $$ for an Alta... (though I really wanna see the claimed...

    Problems with too much power?

Yeah I'm mostly thinking of changing props to dull the power... but for curiosities sake, I can't seem to find a consistent answer: What are the downsides to flying without enough weight, or "overpowered"? Is it just harder to make smoother motions? Or is there more to it than that?

    Problems with too much power?

I'm tiptoeing back into this pool and I don't have all the specifics of a build all put together yet, but as I ease back into heavy lift, ideally I'd like to build something that could handle a Movi with Red (or similar) payload, that I can use to lift much lighter (thinking of trying a Gremsy...

Hexacrafter X8 - Finished and Ready for Service!

Not to drag this whole debate back out into the air, but have you considered larger props on the bottom to boost efficiency? Are people still doing that?

Hexacrafter X8 - Finished and Ready for Service!

So I hope you don't mind if I completely rip off this build...

Hexacrafter X8 - Finished and Ready for Service!

Does the frame come with a power distribution option or is that from elsewhere?

One prop, two chunks of GPS mast so far!

Oh boy, my name is already becoming synonymous with failure!

    Hexacrafter to release x8 frames.

I'm definitely eyeballing this frame as I plot my return... between this and vulcan black widow. How easy is it to get this guy folding?

    Humbled...

So I'm assuming the logging from Super X is better (or at least easier to interpret) than what I got from the iOSD mkII?

    Humbled...

I kinda see the point, but I'd think "doesn't randomly flip the **** out and crash" would be a basic requirement of all multirotor applications.
