    help with first hexa crash

Let's look at your system from scratch. List all of the parts on your rig. 20 minutes on a hex with a 5-pound load (not including lipos, right?) is a pretty good flight time. Adding batteries may not fix your problem because bigger batteries means more weight. To achieve high flight times...

    help with first hexa crash

Your charger should tell you how much you put back in. If your charger does not tell you this, then you likely need a new charger - considering that you seem to be serious about this venture. The iCharger Duo is a slam dunk. You never want to hear your lipo alarm. Never, ever, ever, never...

    help with first hexa crash

When you go for your first flight, fly for about 5 minutes. Go back and charge up the batteries. See how much mAh you put back in. This should give you a basic idea of what your flight time should be. You never want to fly more than 80% of your battery out. You shouldn't be putting any more...

    Phobotic Centerpiece Brushless Gimbal Controller

Late in 1:47 going into 1:49 as the water becomes the left part of the screen you can see a pretty severe roll to the left. Just after jfro's photoshop still. 3:13-3:14 rolls left also. Overall a great vid though. We're most definitely buying one and can't wait to see what it can do on our...

32bit AlexMos Gen Discussion & Autotune

Haven't tried autotune yet, but my experience with the 32 bit is almost exactly the same as my 8-bit. Using different PIDs on it, but stabilization is almost identical - don't see any advantages even when I'm using two IMUs. A little nervous wading into autotuning. Probably do that next week.

Amazon, DJI, 3DR, Parrot form coalition!

I was convinced it was a Thanksgiving marketing ploy - but give Bezos credit, he wasn't kidding. And he got the big boys on board. What a development!

    Batteries

Don't replace the cell. Discard and buy a new one. There may be a way to do it, but I'm not smart enough to figure it out. Not worth the trouble.

800mm Hexacopter crashed on Test flight

I think you're right that atti mode might not compensate for a bad motor - thus it was probably an esc or motor that needs fixing. You do lose some functionality with 5.16, but it's nothing of consequence imo. Rolling back is exactly the same as upgrading. DJI keeps all the old fws on their...

    Batteries

I guess I don't understand these expensive lipos. I've been running NanoTech 8,000s for a year and a half with hardly any problems. I think I've had a cell go bad on two of them, but it's easy to spot. One cell will start to be very difficult to balance, and then you replace it. Shipping...

800mm Hexacopter crashed on Test flight

I won't fly anything other than 5.16. If it took off straight towards M1, then it sounds like a WKM issue. If one motor is bad, and you're in GPS, then WKM is supposed to keep flying, but your craft will be spinning. At that point you're supposed to switch to carefree mode and guide it...

    Anyone used this gimbal/rig setup?

http://www.basecamelectronics.com/ Go to the downloads section. There will be a manual there. I'm guessing you have 8-bit. Your supplier will know for sure.

    Drone Pilots Association

Good point. I guess I see it sort of like the NAACP. In 1909 nobody liked the term "colored", but it wasn't really offensive at the time, and there wasn't any better descriptive term available. Same thing here. UAS isn't in the public lexicon, and drone is equally descriptive. All I'm...

    Drone Pilots Association

It just doesn't bother me as much as it used to. See Steward/stewardess vs. flight attendant. Or waiter vs. server. Or masseuse vs. massage therapist. Maybe those aren't entirely accurate analogies, but the truth is that when people want what is being offered they will search for "drone...

I'm not involved at all. I spoke with him several months ago once and that was it.

here's my budget, can you make suggestions?

If you want faster than Phantom, then I think you need to build it yourself. If you're doing video then you're going to need some sort of gimbal to get usable video. And gimbals can get expensive quick. You're going to need a radio, VTx, VRx, lipos, charger - this stuff gets expensive pretty...

    Drone Pilots Association

Google drone, click on images and 5 of the first 10 pics are multis. The others are predators. The first pic is a Phantom, which in my mind is the now the 1st thing that comes to people's mind when they think drone. So if you consider Google media, them they seem to think drone means multi...
