2015 NAB News: Blackmagic Micro Cinema Cam, Tiny, Drone-Specific Super16 RAW Camera

Samur has responded to this GPS issue before in this forum and others I believe. He's a busy dude and I'm surprised he didn't get back to you - he seems ridiculously good about responding to people. Here's one exchange: Originally Posted by tombrown1 I notice left-high horizon between :43...

2015 NAB News: Blackmagic Micro Cinema Cam, Tiny, Drone-Specific Super16 RAW Camera

http://nofilmschool.com/2015/04/blackmagic-micro-cinema-camera-studio-camera-4k-price-cost-availability Looks like an amazing camera that was tailor made for aerials. Unfortunately it seems like there's a lot of pressure to shoot 4k. Even if it's not very useful. Kind of a litmus test.

2015 NAB News: Blackmagic Micro Cinema Cam, Tiny, Drone-Specific Super16 RAW Camera

Really want to like this camera. Global shutter will be great, but my understanding is that you lose a couple stops of dynamic range to get it. econfly, curious as to why you think GH4 is better - this thing shoots RAW 1080p with a global shutter, right? Best, Tom

    Flight Times

Don't know those motors. Sorry. Be sure props are balanced. Be sure lipos are balanced. Be sure props are on correctly. Ultra aggressive gains on naza will lessen flight times a bit. Flying manual will let you know if something is wrong. You should be well under 50% throttle with that...

    Flight Times

Check to see where your hover is in manual mode. This is important. Flight time does seem low. Are you flying through 80% of your batteries? Lower kv motors are best for flight time. Also want to keep the lipos as warm as possible before the flight.

GH3, HDMI out working, but not via a converter

Power it direct not with USB. There's a schematic around somewhere.

Sony A7S vs Panasonic Lumix GH4.....

Ouch! $2k and 1.5 lbs is a lot to pay for a feature that other cameras do in body. I know M10 can carry it but 1.5 lbs. takes a pretty good chunk out of your flight time. Still, it might be worth it for the low light stuff.

    Samsung NX1

The big thing that the 2.0 aperture gives you is the ability to go wide open in low light without having to crank ISO so much - and that's why I'm considering this camera - along with the A7S (which has other issues) - I'm hoping low light stuff will be better. NX500 could be just about...

    Samsung NX1

You lose OIS with those lenses - I know, you shouldn't need it with the state of gimbals - but honestly if you're not running a Zen then OIS comes in awfully handy. Maybe your Freefly is in the same boat as Zen, but pretty much everything else can use a bit of help. There are a couple of...

    Samsung NX1

Bart, I don't think that's the case anymore. http://www.hobby-wing.com/tarot-tl6x001-x6-multicopter.html Put some prop adapters that are ez off onto 15" props. Then you have an umbrella folding flat hex with easily removable props - total assembly time onsite - probably 2-3 minutes. I've...

Sony A7S vs Panasonic Lumix GH4.....

Which Ninja are you looking at? The Ninja Star which is very lightweight says it only records 1080p. Absolutely love the A7S low-light capability, but trying to figure out a lightweight way to record 4K from it.

    Samsung NX500 4k cam

I'm waiting to see if Panny is going to come out with a GH5 - they're discounting the GH4 and LX100, so there's reason for hope. If they don't, and NX500 has live video out, then that'll be the direction we're going - the specs are amazing on that thing, and the weight is absurd.

    Samsung NX1

Y6 is not a good idea - flat hex would be the way to go for a NX1. Y6 is squirrelly with yaw and doesn't lift as much as flat 6. Also, the props are lower on a Y6 so more likely to get props in the shot. And don't forget, the 16mm-50mm lens for the Samsung (the really nice one that would be...

Iosd is unnecessary. Use a timer and voltage alarms and you will be fine.

Thanks John! Using the 32-bit, though I couldn't tell much difference when I upgraded from 8-bit. Still using an OIS lens, which I really hate because the sun bubbles wobble when shooting into the sun. Love to get a better gimbal and not use OIS. I have the Photobotic Centerpiece in a box...

I see what you're saying Ben, and we are moving on without talking to them. We don't feel that they're identical at all - honestly it's mainly the music (though we hate the titling at the beginning and end also). I would say that quite possibly most of my time in post is done marrying the...
