InfinityMR Universal high performance gimbal for GH4/A7S size cameras

Jakub, I understand the gimbal is the most important part - and your gimbal is NOT the source of my problems. It is very clearly the $600 Phobotic. Honestly, they need encoders and GPS, but they don't think they do. They think it's fine as is. If they just take 6 months, figure out how to...

InfinityMR Universal high performance gimbal for GH4/A7S size cameras

Gimbal was terrific - Phobotic stabilization is pretty amazing as well. Problem is with the horizon drift for Phobotic. It's absolutely ridiculous and I can't get it working well. We got the shoot done and will have a great video to show for it, but we had to cut a ton of clips because of...

InfinityMR Universal high performance gimbal for GH4/A7S size cameras

This is indeed an excellent gimbal. Just had a pretty big shoot with it that went great. The Phobotic on the other hand..... I bought the one without the encoder motors - Jakub can you sell me just the motors with encoders so I can switch to AM? Just about done with the promises from...

    S1000 - thank you DJI

Considering all the MRs I've been through, this one has by far the least number of things that can go wrong. I saw some of the stiffeners - just not sure I really need them. Maybe down the road.

    S1000 - thank you DJI

Frame. Stupid mistake - but with this frame there are a lot of possibilities for failure - my biggest fear was actually the fact that you need to line up each motor mount and tighten down - would have been a much better design if mounts had been pre-leveled. Also, just not a really high...

    S1000 - thank you DJI

Well after trying to get a Tarot X6 to work, I had a crash and went out and bought an S1000. Wow is all I can say! This thing has been thoroughly thought through by DJI. An absolutely astounding piece of machinery. Got the maiden voyage up today and everything went perfectly. Couldn't be...

    Humbled...

Wow - really sorry to hear this. I just had a crash that cost me a couple thousand dollars. The time and care put into the build are almost more frustrating than the $. I've never trusted A2. Soooo many features on that thing that can go wrong. And most of them unnecessary. I've been...

Tarot X6 crash - lesson learned

I think that generally you're right, but I think Jakub over at hdairstudio is doing pretty good business with big camera gimbals. Also, I think the Tppacks guys are doing pretty well. There's definitely a market there as long as they command a decent price.

Tarot X6 crash - lesson learned

Ha! You're right! Seems like it's coming soon though for those of us who don't want to fly $4k gimbals. Not sure why Samur and Alexei don't just bite the bullet and put a GPS chip on their boards. Seems like people are clamoring for an affordable horizon.

Tarot X6 crash - lesson learned

Thanks for the link. I had read all that before. I guess my question is with regards to horizon specifically. It seems as though we already have the technology without encoders to achieve good stability. Do they help with horizon though? Seems like the first person who can provide a level...

InfinityMR Universal high performance gimbal for GH4/A7S size cameras

Jakub, I think you misunderstand me. I've seen a thousand "gimbal testing" videos over the years. And the only ones that I've seen perfect horizon on are Zen. It was your quote of "horizon is perfect" that led me to post. The horizon isn't perfect. In fact it's way off at 2:52, and a little...

InfinityMR Universal high performance gimbal for GH4/A7S size cameras

Sorry Jakub, but I've seen a thousand similar videos, and this horizon is totally sideways at 2:52. Vast majority of the video is incredible. But it still can't handle every maneuver (the gimbal controller, that is). The question I've been trying to figure out though is this - Do the...

Tarot X6 crash - lesson learned

What I'm trying to figure out is specifically how encoders are better than stock alexmos.

Tarot X6 crash - lesson learned

I'm still trying to understand the whole encoder thing. Before the crash the cp was performing amazingly well, BUT I hadn't started working on tuning the horizon yet. I've read a lot, but what does the am with encoders do for you? Does it help with horizon? I can't imagine needing better...

Tarot X6 crash - lesson learned

She was flying pretty well, so I put the gimbal and camera on and threw her up. A couple minutes in she comes crashing down from about 30 feet. Absolutely devastated - I have a ton of hours invested building this thing. Gimbal is completely trashed (couldn't get the gear down in time)...

ESC location, under motor or in the center plate?

John I just finished my build with the same frame. I prefer the escs on the center plate to keep esc wires shorter. I just ran the wires outside the arms and taped them down. I don't really care about looks too much. She's flying great overall. Using t motor motors and props. Love the way...

Anybody know what causes "IMU Data Lost"

Well, for posterity, this seems to be my solution: Moved the IMU away from the center (which was directly over the dist. board), and mounted with two strips of double-sided tape. I tried the velcro thing, and it was NOT a good experience - lots of over-correcting, bit of a white-knuckle...

Anybody know what causes "IMU Data Lost"

Current plan is to mount the IMU on velcro (good velcro - don't worry it's not going anywhere) and... Dial up the GPS puck so that when I press forward the rig goes dead straight.

Anybody know what causes "IMU Data Lost"

Can't seem to shake this issue on my new hex build. It's a WKM on 5.16 (always been a solid fw for me). The issue seems to happen when I start moving around laterally - not even that aggressively. I've tried mounting the IMU with firm two-sided tape and also with a soft two-sided spongy...

InfinityMR Universal high performance gimbal for GH4/A7S size cameras

Looks great! Stabilization looks great. CP horizon is killing me to watch though. It's all over the place. I know Samur is sick of answering questions about it, but I hope there's something that can be done.
