    FPV n00b questions

You asked about using both goggles & a screen at the same time. I have one of these video splitter/amps for doing just that. RMRC $25 http://www.readymaderc.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=11_66_111&products_id=377

Are you flying with uhf for control?

SkyZone FPV setup not working - help pease!

I don't know if it's what's causing you the problems, but that link says the vtx is for goggles that are 640x480. The Skyzones are 854x480. This other transmitter doesn't say that & it comes with it's own GoPro cable. It might simplify your wiring confusion...

Whats the best FPV set up?

I read somewhere, I wish I could remember where, that the IRC gear will work with the Skyzones, but the range won't be as good.

1.2GHz FPV, Good Or Bad For long range FPV?

When flying with 2.4 control you definitely do NOT want to use 2.4 for video. Some people will tell you that 1.2 is a harmonic of 2.4 & therefore you shouldn't use it either, but lots of people do. Keep your control rx away from your video tx as best you can. You can add a low pass filter to...

Please guide me with a move into quad rotors

SMP, Sorry I missed you. I've been off the forums for the last couple of months. Too busy buying a house, fixing it up, & moving. Because of our move I stopped buying quad stuff. I've got the quad, tx, batteries & charger, but not the video gear....yet. I plan to get back to it soon...

This is what I am thinking of buying. Your opinions please

cyborg, I think the Naza's great & it just came out with a gps upgrade too. :nevreness: I just got a witespy quad from Hoverthings.com with the Naza & I'm having a blast. I've never done RC, but with the Naza's stability it's been fun learning. Tom & Paul also sell the DJI quads, but I...

    Cinestar 8 and Hoverfly Pro

Ben, Great footage! I'm new to multirotors & was curious about the legalities of this kind of work. I thought that the FCC was still debating the rules & regs of commercial multiroter use, but as of now it was illegal to have a business of this type. Has that changed?

    Just Say No

LOL I laugh only because I know how your friend feels. When I was a teen my best friend bought a motorcycle & let me try it. A few minutes later he peeled me off of the hood of my own parked car (no helmet). My front bumper looked V shaped with the bike still wedged in, running, & the handle...

Actually ,the whole thing is theirs. They just buy the g10 material, then cut & build. :D

Ninja warrior shoot with Red Epic

Awesome video! Wish it had sound though. I couldn't get any. Don't know about the quad, but I'd sure be nervous flying around with a $58k camera! :dejection:

    quadcopter advice needed

Hoverthings is basically Tom & Paul down in Florida. They have "normal" 9-5pm jobs & started the quad business as a second job. An opportunity to do something they enjoy & make a few bucks doing it. They're often out of stock because they're good at what they do & word has spread so much that...

Please guide me with a move into quad rotors

This is what I'm saving my pennies for. :D Got a tax return check & will be ordering the first 7 items hopefully in the next few weeks. In the neighborhood of $1,800 to start, but that's with FPV gear! <tbody> ITEM DISCRIPTION SUPPLIER MAKER COST Quad Camo FPV w/ Naza...

    quadcopter advice needed

vortex000111, I would agree with the others. The AR Drone is a toy for flying around the house & maybe a football field. If you really want to get into FPV I wouldn't bother with it. Hoverthings.com sells the DJI F450. I know they say the frame is nearly indestructible, but I saw a video of...

Advice for getting started with multi-rotor helicopters

The Canon 6d is a good size camera. You may need to upgrade the motors. Most guys carrying a camera like that have it on a gimbal that has auto roll & tilt correction. I'm not sure if the FC on the xa650 will do that. I'd check before buying. Kelly

    Batteries for witespy quad

Paul, the guy who builds the witespy for Hoverthings, told me he recommended a max 4000mah battery. He didn't expand on why. On their web site, under the Q & A tab, it says a 5000mah battery will give you a flight time of 13 minutes & doubling up 2 5000mah batteries will give you 25 minutes...

I'm NEW and could use a little help =)

Jake, I'm new to the whole rc hobby so I couldn't say. There are a million combinations of props, motors, & esc's to choose from. Everybody has their own preferences for what they're looking for. Here's a link to the original post of juz's. It does say what he used...

I'm NEW and could use a little help =)

Jake, Awesome! I thought I'd try their FPV frame that's due out in about a month. It's shaped a little different to help keep the props out of the pic. This is juz's quad. They let him test the frame. They said it would come with the Naza too. Can't wait! :highly_amused: Did you find a...

I'm NEW and could use a little help =)

Jake, I'm waiting for Hoverthings new FPV frame. The witespy is theirs. Odd page you linked to. It looked similar to theirs, but it's not. Wierd. Anyways, on that site there's another version that comes with a DX6i (about $160). You need 4 channels to fly (elevator, aileron, throttle, &...

    Newbie question about camera gimbals

So, if I'm understanding this right, you need to get a tx that has enough channels to operate all the things you want to manually change. If I had the Hoverthings witespy quad with the DJI Naza controller I would need 4 channels for the basic controls (aileron, elevator, throttle, & rudder), 1...
